Had a look into this and it is a problem across the on the desktop site also (Canary and none).

In my opinion, it should really be enforced on the server-side to mitigate the risk of someone bypassing the client-side validation to manipulate vote counts. Also saves having to repeat the task but comes at the cost of having to make an additional call to Cass to upvote, which could be a bit of a bottleneck depending on how expensive the search is.

This has been like this since inception because the posts are two separate entities. The same issue applies to reminds which is a much larger issue.

Ah, so there's no way to link the two through something like a common GUID? We just have to do it client-side for all platforms?
