    5 months since March 31 elections (2 months since Istanbul re-run) & so far we have: *Removal of elected mayors; *Erdoğan wanting to resettle a million Syrians in the safe zone; *Ankara threatening the EU with 'opening doors' migrants; *Head of Istanbul CHP sentenced to 9+ years

    Can all those who said "Erdoğan will soften after the local elections" or "Erdoğan will no longer seek polarising politics" or "there will be a new peace process after the local elections" please stand up (and take a vow of shutting the hell up on predictions re: Erdoğan)?

    Selahattin Demirtaş'ı tek bir dosyadan 4 yıl 8 aya, Canan Kaftancıoğlu'nu 9 yıl 8 aya, Selçuk Kozağaçlı'yı 11 yıl 3 aya mahkum eden heyetin başında hep aynı hakim var. Tesadüf tabii, Türkiye'de yargıda her şey sadece tesadüf.

    Presumably (please note I'm not a lawyer, and please correct me if I am wrong) Kaftancıoğlu will go to jail when/if the regional appeals court confirms the sentencing. (I personally expect this to be 'when' rather than 'if').

    The total sentence Kaftancıoğlu has received on multiple charges is 9 years and 8 months. Because no single sentence is greater than 5 years, she will appeal to the regional appeals court. Currently no arrest warrant has been issued.

    Canan Kaftancıoğlu'na toplam 9 yıl 8 ay hapis cezası verildi. Tutuklama yok. Karar istinafa gidecek.
