Technically, nothing stops you from refusing reg to ANYONE. However, it raises lots of principal questions, such as ... what other rational reasons are there beyond the quite irrational public pressure. It's easy to ban someone because of public pressure.

Not directly. But dehumanizing these people to the point it's happening right now is also not quite as ethical as it seems. If you got like, 10000 people at your con, how many of those have had run-ins with the law. Where does the self-policing stop?

Wherever we want it to. Some crimes are irrelevant to con attendance. Some are VERY relevant. We can do this. We don鈥檛 have to make one perfect rule, and just because we want to ban pedos, doesn鈥檛 mean we need to ban jaywalkers.

But how about other serious crimes? Criminal Background checks for everyone now? Why single out child predators? You're making this wayyy to easy.

It IS easy. When a con is made aware of a dangerous person attending, they look into it, and act if necessary. Parking ticket? No. History of sexual assault? Maybe. Depends on the case. Not all cons will make the same calls either.
