If the messages to slim0sine were also from 4lung I believe Maria would have taken screenshots of those as well, since they are obviously much more alarming and incriminating than an RP with another adult.

Fae could have easily just come to me with evidence that either the laptop wasnt stolen or that Maria didn't send those messages to slim0sine, but instead they just gave me a bunch of empty threats.
