So the main speculation I have right now is everything that's been happening is the result of Kibou's will including her own sister's existence. The hard part is this. How much of it is conscious vs sub.

While Shingetsu vs Mangetsu is an expected final battle, I do have to wonder if they might go the route of one being defeated early forcing the other to carry both their burdens instead.

Which would either mean a corrupted Kuon as the final challenge, Sushiou surviving until the end through cheap tactics, or a surprise final entry after either Mangetsu or Shingetsu falls.
