Just a friendly reminder

Remember everyone, YAK HAS BEEN AWAKE FOR 48 HOURS STRAIGHT!

Why in gods name would anyone ACTUALLY put themselves through that much shit, when they're not being paid a dime and get constant shit from users and admins alike?  And yet dozens of people totally believe this and are suddenly praising the FA staff FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE HISTORY OF FA.  A month of downtime for any corporate site and you better just declare it dead.

And what's with the rumor that Dragoneer used a slice of the donation pie to pay for a new video card so he could "work on the site"?  Is there any truth to that?

Him being up 48 hours straight doing coding work means he didn't work on the code at all while it was down. Knowing that the site still had a working server and all, if he did indeed need to test the code or whatever, he could have done it.

Sad really. There's quite a long list of people more deserving of praise who gave a shit. We should all just get together and write a book - "FA - The Untold Story". That would be a fucking gold mine. The best drama this fandom has ever read XD

He did work on it and the work was partially lost last week when the server finally died.

Is it really so hard to give a guy a pat on the back for his work, instead of examining his every move for an excuse to not be grateful?

A good programmer has back up's of their work.

I'm not trying to rag on the guy, and I'm not looking for flaws with a fine-tooth comb. I'm just pointing out some things my friends who are programmers have said. Take it with whatever sized grain of salt you want.

Otherwise, if they would just fucking outsource, it wouldn't be as bad and it would end up cheaper. But no, we want to ride on high horses with the game of "we write our own code and care for our own system".

48 hours for...what, exactly? Making the site shittier than it already was?

I considered donating a bit, but that was because I was hoping they would add in some new features and refine the UI by the time they brought FA back up. Now it's working even worse than before, and after having spent a couple weeks on FAP the lengths you have to go through in order to get anything worthwhile done are ridiculous. It's nice that they're working hard to try and get people up and running again since people use that site for business, but it really should not be taking this long for a search function ON AN ART SITE.

Because not everybody here is for the money. Some are just blind idealists and are there for the community, "I'm here for the art", and similar idealistic reasons.
Rest assured you'll not see me pull FA offline with a big ass "zOMg I am butthurt at Dragoneer" as a splash page.

Also, nice to see you still rumor mongering. Some people never learn I guess.
