It may look completely and utterly fake due to the silly head and the "TM" symbol instead of an "R" one, but it's real. Warner Bros. is pulling it out of websites (smart marketing move, Warner Bros.! [sarcasm]) and it was just a third-party photoshop.
What do you think of it? (Also non-admin guys, you can reply to my threads now. Wikia fixed it.)
Well, it was a smart move on Warner Bros part to release it instead of making us skeptical. I still find the head to look goofy. Yeah, I don't really like the design too much. Of course, still satisfying.
I am so glad that Legendary Pictures is sticking with the Japanese Godzilla design, and I really like the design. The one from 1998 looked super horrible.
If it's anymore complaints I have with the design (aside from the fact that his eyes are too small and the atrocious teeth), it's the spines on his back, they only look like Godzilla spines a little bit, they primarily look like Zilla's backwards-shark-dorsal fin-like spines to me.
I would say something about the arms, but the Godzilla 2014 logo and the red and white flashes are in the way, so I can't say anything until I see another picture without the logo and the flashes.

I'd have to disagree with you on that, it looks nothing like it at all.
I don't mean to be in fact, but it's just my opinion. Out of all the designs for this one, honestly.... some of them look very similar to Zilla. And halfy this one as well.

I don't think so. The design of Zilla was clearly and great. (Excuse my spelling, I'm from Germany)

Yeah and Big G has been going through a lot of heck over these years... in fact, it has 10 FRICKEN' years so it's about time to make a come back and to see him destroy a city and I heard that he will fight 2 other monsters.
It's head looks like a Ninja Turtle's, but that's what the official monster is supposed to look like according to the sculpts, and drawings. Their insperation was the the Goji costume from Gojira, like say the monster was real, and the head of Toho Co. realy did see Goji, and was trying to hurry home and draw what he saw, but couldn't quite remember what the beast looked like. Personally I liked the 1998 Zilla movie, but Legendary Pictures is alot better at making movies so the new Goji movie will be alot better than Zilla's movie.
"It's" means "it is" or "it has". For "Its head" (or anything else used when you're referring to something that belongs to someone), you use its, not it's. :D

I'm very aware already Titanollante that Zilla isn't Godzilla, the only reason why I refer to him "American Goji," and all Japanese Godzilla incarnations(the suites, with Goji in their names) simply as "Goji" is the fact that I don't find it quit as exhausting to say even though "American Goji" is a lot more to say, aswell I'd like to note, kudos, it's not every day someone teaches me that "it's" doesn't apply to the possessive, I've always assumed that "it's" was a contraction or a possessive form, due to the rule, "If it doesn't end in "S" add apostrophe "s", but if it ends in "s" just add an apostrophe to the end." EX. "Godzilla's", not "Godzillas", or "Zilla's son," not "Zillas sons." Well played, Grammar Nazi schooled by a Grammar Nazi.
P.S. I know "It's" is a contraction, and I'm still very aware his name is Zilla, I'm not an idiot.

Actually, it IS kind of useless to call Zilla that title because it doesn't belong to him anymore (Not like it ever did anyway. [I know you're aware of it, so no need to remind me]), the "American Goji" title belongs to Legendary's version now, and for one reason:

Probably, but it has to be done. Anybody who's ignorant to the Zilla Name Change, is a complete fool and a troll.

well if you're talking about the fact that godzilla is a rubber suit, but this godzilla is computer animated. plus, just look at the face. Kind of looks creepy. It's not bad, It just weirds me out
Hmm... That face just doesn't look "Godzilla" -ish to me. Kinda reminds me of Goomba from the bad Super Mario Bros Movie. I don't see what was wrong with the millenium Godzilla's design though. I always believed in my opinion that he looked quite spectacular.
Me neither. Zilla sucks unless he's in Godzilla: Daikaju Battle Royale. He's actually a decent monster in that game. NOT STARTING A FIRE-WAR OR CONTROVERSY!!! Just sayin'

As it says on the Godzilla (2014) page, this is a scene from the trailer premeiring tomorrow 10am Pacific time/ 1pm Earstern time. It was found on USA Today along with the other pictures showing Bryan Cranston and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. There is also one that shows a closer the head. I thought I should post it here to show you.
I'm kind of new on this wiki (but anyone who has contributed for a while on the pacific rim wiki probably knows me weel :D), and all I have to say is this: if I don't see this movie in theaters, I will most likely die. From the sadness.
P.S.: can someone tell the pr wiki admins (lily ford especially) how to do custom emoticons? thanks in advance.

Please, can we stay on topic? To put it simply, Turokswe is GONE. As far as we are concerned, he is no longer relevant to this wiki, and if he comes back, we simply boot him from the site again and carry on.
Anyways, to contribute to the discussion, I'm a little iffy on this design. It looks like Godzilla, unlike Zilla, and thus, it is somewhat satisfying, but he looks kinda fat in my opinion.
Right, stay on topic! OR DIE. Anyways, I think Godzilla in his 2014 form does look interesting to me. He looks like Godzilla 90's with Zilla, with a little 2000 in it.

It's pretty new here... I post things about my upcoming ROBLOX Godzilla movie. Just like the 2014 film, but different story and characters, you might wanna like it when it releases on March 4, 2015. BTW, Godzilla will always have a short snout, gentlemen.
Here's a design that's much closer to what it will be officially. This picture was added to LegendaryGoji days ago and I was among the first to see it, but I forgot about this thread.
Ok no one is saying this is the worst design. Second I can believe but does anyone like this? Ok, I don't even need to show a picture. It is too obvious.

It's not nearly being as small as the Showa Godzilla, though. Also, only the MireGoji and the KiryuGoji had truly "long" snouts, and to be fair, the upper jaw looks small because Godzilla is squinting with his nose raised.

I uploaded the roar of G14 to Wikizilla as a .ogg file before that video was even uploaded. It's very obviously placed in the infobox on the Godzilla article, I really thought it would have been easy to notice and find. I guess it isn't... everyone should look at articles more.
The second poster for Godzilla has been released and it shows Godzilla's spines. And before people say anything, this poster as been confirmed as real. Enjoy...

I can imagine if the only thing it doesn't show is it's TROLLFACE and it was just a prank by Toho and Legendary. That would be so funny I almost wish it was true.
That chart is wrong. Very wrong. Godzilla in 2014 is going to be exactly 106.68 meters. BARELY bigger than the tallest film Godzillas, and not surpassing the Marvel Godzilla at all.
Doesn't anyone look at the updated infoboxes? Are they a huge waste of time that no one cares about?

Now since I think about it, lets say it's unconfirmed because, things could change anytime.

Wrong. The size was confirmed exactly in a magazine interview. Also, the "people" you're talking about is Gareth Edwards, who said it was going to be the biggest, but just by "a bit". Here's the interview.
This is OLD news guys, it's been on the Godzilla (2014 film) and Godzilla articles for borderline months, and you don't know about it? I guess that means that no one reads the articles, and thus they are pointless to maintain and create if no one reads them.... -_-

I've been noticing that people selling the 2014 toys are still using the design uploaded by the brazilian fan. Why are they using that design if we know legendary switched it to the design in the comment above me.
This is the older design the toy people keep using

That is completely fake. If it was on the Empire article, at least I would know about it. The header there says "Gojira Desain" (Godzilla Design), nothing about 2014, and, who was the person that spammed this anyways?

That could be the first design for Zilla... It wasn't in the Empire article, I'm sure. The modest-as-always Titan is right about that.

This obviously isn't a design for Zilla. Stephan...
I found it on Google Images, the guy just said. "A friend of mine found this photo". Plus, his friend even said that he spammed this on the some other thread, he just didn't say the name for some reason.
In my opinion, Godzilla from this shot looks WAY better than the other pictures I've seen, his face looks more menacing than, well... this.
And his spines (or dorsal plates, scutes, doesn't really matter) look very much like the MireGoji suit's, which is a good. Much better than these in which it looks like Zilla's.
All that left is his signature Radioactive Heat Ray attack (Just to see how it's animated in the movie).

We need better stills. The ones we have so far are, well... Don't look as good as some of the other Godzilla designs.
From the angle of the most recent photo, I can definitely see what Jim Rygiel is talking about when he says that the design is slightly based off a bear.
It may just be me, but personally LegendaryGoji looks like a hybrid of bear, Komodo dragon, Godzilla and some sort of crocodile; the face is definitely ursine, but the arms are quite varanid-like, with long fingers and a shorter wrist and the rest of the body (aside from it's sauropod-esque feet) look extremely crocodylian, from what I can gather, aside from the obviously MireGoji-styled dorsal scutes.

This isn't too spoilery. Parts of this were already in the trailers, and the airport attack itself was shown at 2013 Comic-con already, so don't get too worried.
Has anybody noticed that the Godzilla design on the Empire cover is slightly different from the actual design? Look at the head on the Empire-zilla. It's shorter and pointier. The outline of his snout is smoother as well. If you look at the film version, the brow is raised higher than the muzzle.
His head is too Small and his neck is too big, agree?
That's not the final design, that's a concept statue. Also, the full body shown in marketing (and the top of this thread) isn't exactly movie-accurate.
Nit pick is nit pick. I don't see a reason to complain. I mean if this is the first time we had an American reboot than it would be one thing, but we all know the last time it went and this is 100 times better than that one.

for some reason, godzilla's face looked like someone tried to morph the face of the old planet of the apes's ape to look lizard like, the spines remind me too much about zilla, from the looks of the hands i see four fingers and where are the ears?
overall, ok design but for todays cgi advancements could do better
To be fair, would you rather this or another Zilla, though?
I like the lack of mammalian ears; it makes him seem more like an archosaur than some kind of basal synapsid. The four fingered-hands also could imply he's some kind of ceratosaur (which, given his dorsal scutes, makes sense).
The scutes don't look anything like Zilla's; Zilla's were basically just the reversed dorsal fins of a shark, but these look more like a modernized version of the ShodaiGoji's scutes.
In fact, the LegendaryGoji in general looks like some kind of advanced ceratosaur with abelisaur traits; which is good.
For comparison, here's some images of a ceratosaur and an abelisaur (specifically Ceratosaurus nasicornis and Carnotaurus sasteri), to compare to LegendaryGoji:
I warn you this is filled with insane spoilers. A video was found showing Godzilla's new Atomic Breath. Here is the link to the video a a picture of it. If you see this and didn't want to be spoiled I am sorry about that.
Huh, Wikizilla is definitely getting the amount of visits I was expecting (ONE MILLION VISITORS THIS WEEK ALONE!), but there haven't been that many new users.
Speaking of Wikizilla... Google really needs to update their search things. It still treats Wikizilla as the main page.

Alright then. We need to be ready for trolls. And yes, Google DOES need to update it...

I loved the efect of the glow come since his tail until the dorsal scutes and his chest inflates, he give a deep breath and then launch the atomic ray at the female M.U.T.O.'s chest.

I would say something about the arms, but the Godzilla 2014 logo and the red and white flashes are in the way, so I can't say anything until I see another picture without the logo and the flashes.

I'd have to disagree with you on that, it looks nothing like it at all.

Then explain the eyes
Still nothing, Godzilla 1968's eyes are more cartoonish and were made to be kid-friendly, Godzilla 2014's are more fierce and "crazy-eyed", as seen in this screenshot right here.
Also, you seemed to have replied to an old post I made prior to the actual screenshots of Godzilla in the movie, and my opinion on the 2014 design has changed since then, I like the face, I like the teeth.
And I definitely like the spines/dorsal plates on its back.
How could a slightly similar death (yes, slightly, because Orga was eating Godzilla and Godzilla blew up his throat while female MUTO was being killed King Kong-vs.-V-Rex style plus the throat, the only similarity is that the atomic breath went down to their throat) possibly confuse people about a monster's design?
"Its"!!! "It's" means "it is" or "it has". For "Its head" (or anything else used when you're referring to something that belongs to someone), you use its, not it's. :D

Except, Zilla is not Godzilla anymore, so calling him "Goji" or "Godzilla" is wrong. I thought that The Zilla Name Change would be common knowledge by now... I'll have to edit your reply to fit the rule that Zilla isn't called Godzilla here. Thnx.
I'm very aware already Titanollante that Zilla isn't Godzilla, the only reason why I refer to him "American Goji," and all Japanese Godzilla incarnations(the suites, with Goji in their names) simply as "Goji" is the fact that I don't find it quit as exhausting to say even though "American Goji" is a lot more to say...
Actually, it IS kind of useless to call Zilla that title because it doesn't belong to him anymore (Not like it ever did anyway. [I know you're aware of it, so no need to remind me]), the "American Goji" title belongs to Legendary's version now, and for one reason:
It IS the real Godzilla this time.
The name of the 1998 incarnation of Zilla should be AmeriJira.

That would imply the 1998 Zilla is not the first Zilla design, though. The MinerGoji and GryphonGoji both came before the ShodaiJira and bear much more resemblance to the other Godzillas; those would be the "AmeriGoji" designs. Zilla is it's own character, so "ShodaiJira" implies the 1998 design to be the original Zilla design (which, in all legality, it is).
(The MinerGoji being the 1980's reboot attempt by Steve Miner, and the GryphonGoji is obviously the one from the de Bont film from 1994; those are my own personally nicknames for those designs, not the real names.)

Then why did one of the admins kudos the guy who made that pic, saying it looked too much like the one he hated.

That's not true...
I agree.
Even if they hold power, they're ADMINS, not GODS. They aren't always right.

He means scutes. No. You will never get the rights to Godzilla without first telling Toho what you plan to do.
Why would you take out those dorsal plates? Those are one of the trademarks of Godzilla. Heck, even Zilla had something similar to them.
I agree with Kaijuzilla. Toho won't let you take out the plates. Even if you did, it would cause massive fan upset, and no one would like Godzilla so much anymore.
And "Sorry Godzilla fans"? Really? This is a Godzilla wiki. Pretty much ALL of us like Godzilla. So you just said "Sorry, everyone on this wiki."

Removing something from an incarnation doesn't make everyone hate the entire character, just look at 1998, no one liked Zilla as Godzilla but it didn't make them not like Godzilla.
"Sorry Godzilla fans" extends beyond Wikizilla, and there's millions of Godzilla fans not on here so there's nothing wrong about saying that.

I think he means removing the dorsal plates from the entire franchise character.

You're both wrong, they're actually dorsal plates.
Well, according to Word of God, at least; biologically, they'd most likely be closer to scutes, since that's the most phylogenetically likely option given his backstories and design all suggesting Godzilla being an archosaur of some kind.
But then again, this is the same series that has carnivorous ankylosaurs, double-brained dinosaurs, time travel, space hydras, moth deities and other such ideas...so maybe biology in the Godzilla canon is different to that of ours.
(EDIT: As it turns out, the plates of stegosaurs (what Godzilla's dorsal scutes were based on) are just highly-modified osteoderms. At least the middle row of Godzilla's dorsal scutes are proper osteoderms, while the outer two can either be proper osteoderms or scutes. So technically, both terms are equally valid!)

Oh HeiseiMekaG, don't you get it yet? "Scutes" ONLY apply to Zilla. Godzilla's back structure ARE called "Dorsal Plates", which are similar to a Stegosaurus', and the Stegosaurus is one of the three dinosaur types whose physical characteristics were combined by the designers at Toho to create Godzilla, with the other two being a Tyrannosaurus (in terms of the body overall) and an Iguanodon (in terms of the arms).
GodzillaIsland, I think you need to calm down a little, you sound [read] like you're angry...
I think it was a good move to make "scutes" into a template so that we could change it right there and have it change site-wide, or else it would have taken longer to change than it's going to take to change every "Godzilla Island (TV series)" link to "Godzilla Island (Series)." Oh and we're I'm going to have to make a template for the Japanese parenthesis text and change every single ... who even cares anymore...
I might make a template for shortening Toho Company Ltd. to just 'Toho'. I've fixed many a page where people have made the space-increasing mistake. Then again, it may be pointless. Me and Les are also working on steadily getting through the Godman and Greenman Kaiju, making it more accurate as we go!
