most of these have been seen by 100 or fewer sitewide, though some have been seen by upwards of 400 and there are a couple with viewers closer to 1000 (albeit far lower where those i actually follow are concerned), but... proportionally, this list makes sense to me and these are some stinky little gems you may wanna seek out. also, i wrote a few words about most of 'em. 8)
side note: letterboxd is a very interesting place in that a thing like Possibly in Michigan doesn't really belong on this list.
strangely, that film was my first encounter with rollin and for whatever reason (just me procrastinating or missing out on things for no reason i can even discern for myself) i have yet to really explore his work otherwise. i loved Fascination. beyond that, i really need to get my shit together and dig in. i love it.
btw, i know you and i had an encounter on other social media recently and i should've extended a friend request in that moment, but i'm shy and was feeling a lot more avoidant than i currently am, so if you'd happen to care to do that i can still be found at /th.remote.viewer
Haha, we are totally socially anxious birds of a feather, as Iβve kind of had a ridiculous habit for years now of never actually initiating anything by sending out requests anymore (even to the people I'd like to follow!), as I figure if they really want to inflict my dumb presence on their newsfeed, theyβd be the ones to send the request in the first place. (all I ever sporadically post are nature photos and music links, so I donβt know why I get so hung up on it)
The first Rollin I saw was Le frisson des vampires, and thatβs usually the one I give as my favorite, as while I think a whole lot of what he did in a little more than the first decade of his career is just about equally wonderful, that one not only has the nostalgia of being my first, but it also has one of my absolute favorite theme songs ever.
that theme song is fantastic, and my favorite thing about it is the droning groans coursing underneath throughout. really makes the whole of it work. i need to see that, now.
i foresee myself enjoying your posts and i thank you for the request (in response to my request)! i tend to feel intimidated by very articulate people for some reason, but it's a silly thing when we clearly have things to share in common. cheers.
It was also covered marvelously by Electric Wizard as the first part of βBlack Magic Rituals and Perversionsβ, which is pretty much my stock answer to the question βwhat is your own instrumental theme song?β (the non-instrumental answer being βHiking Metal Punks Foreverβ, of course).
I am flabbergasted that I have somehow come off as articulate to anyone, as Iβm just a doofus with a high school education (if even that, really; I was [poorly] home-schooled from 7th grade onward) who deletes 60% of my own posts anywhere online before hitting send, as I find them not articulate enough andβ/βor of minimal interest to anyone but myself or my catsβ¦ but they donβt really count, because they know Iβm their only source of food, so theyβve become highly adept at feigning interest in my disjointed rambling.
The italian Godzilla its lost, isnt it?
There's a VHS rip of a poor-quality print that you can see here, but I just saw someone in the past month or so claiming that theyβve finally found a 35mm print of it. It kills me that I canβt remember where on Facebook I saw it, but they did post a couple of stills as proof that looked promising. Iβll have to scrounge through my history and see if I can turn it up.
I've seen exactly none of these but there are several really cool posters on this list
WhErE do i watch these?!?!?!
that's... a good question! i get things from all kinds of sources and... honestly, i don't know if i could tell you where i found all of these. maybe tonight or tomorrow i'll take a look at some of these and see if i have files and if i can figure out where i found them, or if i can share any links, etc. i would imagine a lot of this stuff can be found via search. is there something specifically you want helping finding lol?
Himiko, Whispering Pines, Love & Pop, Blood Beat, Golden Queen Commando, Lucifer Rising, Crazy Thunder Road, Lost In New York, The Boxer's Omen.....some all time favourites in here!
