Future Sci-Fi, Dystopias, Computers, Robots, Techsploitation. Movies about contraptions gone wrong, drones, clones and futuristic automobiles, fascist dictatorships of the future, cybernetics, genetic engineering, and all that futuristic stuff apart from space-shit.
A long time ago people used to build statues. Artificial people were made of marble and stone. There were funny stories about these statues coming to life. Why would we build artificial people? Mainly for five reasons. (There's always five) 1. To somehow sidestep the responsibility and consequence of killing or murder. To build some kind of fake person to do your bidding.
2. Sex. It began with inflatable love-dolls, now it's androids. We're there.

2. Sex. It began with inflatable love-dolls, now it's androids. We're there.
3. Schmaltz. To create the illusion of normality of artificial people. They will be cute, tell jokes, and make everything seem funny and okay. It isn't.
4. To sell to poor lonely people who have nobody to talk to because of the kind of world we now live. Don't think for one second, you'll be able to afford these things, it was always for the rich. They live in a different world.
5. War. See 1. To have an army which can do the bidding of anyone who has the access codes. They will follow orders no matter what, and carry out whatever war-crimes you choose. It has begun.
We build artificial people, and make computers talk because in a way, we (or they) have become artificial people. No longer human. The human mind always builds things that are mirrors of the subconscious. The desire for power, sex, money, comes from a lack of understanding of reality. These objects will take on the mirror of things and play certain roles in the end, which 'humanity' will have to deal with, the exteriorization of the mind is kind of a big mistake, but not all are guilty of the crime, but unfortunately it seems we'll all be paying for it.
The construction of human-like beings so that we can be treat them inhumanly is ultimately the whole point. Sex-bots. Kill-bots. Bots you can beat the shit out of and use to spy on your neighbors, and bots you can put in dangerous situations you don't want to be in. There will always be consequences and things don't always work they way you imagine or want them to.
Artificial Intelligence may not end up being SKYNET, but I'm sure it will be a little like SKYNET and a little like HAL9000 and a little like Salacious Crumb, and a little like Colossus: The Forbin Project. Yes, it will destroy us, but probably in ways we haven't even thought of yet. Not even William Gibson. Not even Orwell. Not even Huxley. Not even James Cameron or George Lucas.
Robots, contrary to popular belief, are not "science." They are technology, they are 'tools' and not 'science.' Science may be argued are a part of how they work and exist, but no differnet than 'we are also science.' It's pointless to defend their invention at this point, they will bring nothing but destruction. They're expensive tools we never needed, but I guess our dark hearts wanted destruction, and I guess we're about to get it. Congratulations. We're there.
Clones. Bad idea. Should be banned. All of them.
Inhumanity of the future is what it's all about, how inhuman can we possibly become? Well, if there's a God, I guess this was the whole inhuman plan. The joke's on us, as what we built in our likeness will destroy us. They'll build their own robots, and they'll destroy them. They'll build their own also, and they'll destroy them. God's world, it seems, is one big shitty joke.
Oh well. There's an Apocalypse Movie list too if you're interested.
This list makes me so wet... that I'm likely to blow a fuse.
Let me know if you want best recommendations on this list.
you should do it anyway
Can I just ask why The Matrix isn't here?
You can ask.
These movies look so bad... I love it
hackers are everywhere... everywhere!

I wouldn't mind a top ten from this list. Great work.
Top Ten 'Best'? as in 'Best of the Worst' or 'Best of the Better Films'? Criteria is everything. Depends on what 'kind' of film you're looking for... and how one views films. For instance "Enthiran/Robot" is incredible, both bad and good, Universal Soldier Day of Reckoning is incredibly bizarre and shockingly interesting... My personal favorite is Max Headroom: 20 Minutes into the Future... but it's not exactly a movie... Colossus the Forbin Project is THE classic... WORLD ON A WIRE is probably the 'best' 'film' of the lot...
I think I was reacting to an earlier comment you made on this list and I was just curious about your recommedations.
