I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what jihad is. The vast majority of "jihadist" groups do not seek to convert the whole world

I think you're fundamentally wrong about what jihad is. It's often touted as 'internal struggle' but originally it meant Islamic conquest. Perhaps you're confusing jihadism with Islamism, which is also an extremist position but it's localised, eg, Iranian & Saudi islamist states.

Dude I'm a muslim. I know what jihad is. There are different forms. Defending the blood and wealth of muslims is also jihad. The point is jihadists can evolve like any other group. The pkk used to be straight communists but they changed didn't they?

HTS and Taliban are both horrible movements for sure. But the development is still interesting. Considering the realist foreign policy paradigm we might be heading towards, great powers might be more willing to engage with such groups that at least superficially clean their act.
