Turkey’s threatened invasion comes at the exact moment when they are rounding up and deporting thousands of Syrian refugees. The plan is to forcibly uproot Syrians who have built lives in Turkey, and chuck them into the homes of ethnically cleansed Kurds.
The cynicism is breathtaking.

It’s so frustrating to see the lack of interest amongst western leftists when these invasions take place. Even Chomsky warns against Turkish invasions and still- utter silence from most activists. It’s disheartening.

This is so without nuance. It is run by a crazed Marxist terrorist cult which has committed far more serious human rights violations than those in Afrin.
That’s ridiculous.
The YPG killed dozens of FSA fighters and paraded their dead bodies through the streets to terrorize the population. Nothing that has happened in Afrin is anywhere close to 10% of this horror.
The kidnappings for ransom? The destruction of cultural monuments? The suppression of Yezidis? The ethnic cleansing of the vast majority of Kurds, and giving their homes to refugees from Ghouta?
Yes all of this did happen and is a byproduct of the Turkish state’s brutalization of the Kurds over decades. The specific crimes in Afrin though pale in comparison to the YPG’s in Tal Rifat & to tag an area run by a group like that as the only decent one is beyond unfair.
I call that total bs!!!

Functioning part with thousands of trucks of American military aid, 10 US base, very heavy American army presence to protect Kurdish administration and to let them steal oil from Syrian wells. And you call it functioning??
