Turkey will wield its legal rights by launching a new cross border operation into northern Syria. Because a terrorist structure which is the Syrian branch of outlawed PKK terrorist org. that poses a very clear threat for TR must surely be rooted out at any rate.Sooner or later!

Exactly 1. Turkey will enter Syria to fight the YPG or YPG will retreat 2. Russia will allow Turkish troops go into NE Syria 3. Assad would rather absorb a weakened YPG into his army, then give a stronger YPG autonomy 4. Turkish forces will make quick work of the YPG as in Afrin

Agree. Do you think that a limited preliminary Turkish military intervention in YPG-control area might prompt the US to respond with CAATSA sanctions even before Turkey activates the S400s?

I don't think a Turkish offensive would prompt the imposition of CAATSA - it may lead to a selection of harsher sanctions out of the 12 listed possibilities in CAATSA. But, I do think the imposition of CAATSA can fast track Turkey's military operation.

Turkey would smash the YPG to the ground really really fast if enters into the east of Euphrates... Americans are also aware of this undeniable fact.
