Hate 2disagree with @elizrael As someone who advocated for #US engagement in #Syria 2012-2015, I would argue since fall 2015 there is no upside for #US staying in Syria anymore. Time 4us 2pack & leave: The progressive case for staying in #Syria, for nowhttps://www.mei.edu/publications/progressive-case-staying-syria-now …

If anything it is Turkey's fault. The US was begging Turkey to do something about ISIS. But especially considering what a success SDF has been, it is simply deplorable to support Turkey's ethnic cleansing now.

Hear me out,Obama failure in overthrowing Assad led to the current situation and plus making a very quick ill-advised choice on the counter-terrorism strategy against ISIS was a very big mistake, leading to the current situation

ISIS' genocide would be continuing today if not for the amazing success of SDF. The US had no good options in Syria. The real mistake was to turn nonviolent protests into a failed civil war. And Assad deserves the majority of blame for that. He should not have cracked down he

he should have stepped down. But it was Qatar and Turkey Andd KSA who funded and supported the war and decided to steal their funding and support to extremists and jihadists and that left the US with no good options.

You are making a perfect case why we should get the hell out of there. We have no horse in that fight. Let Iran, Russia & Assad shoulder responsibility 4continuing fight against ISIS. No need for US to help lighten their load in Syria.

Allan is also wrong with his information, there was a moderate Free Syrian Army in 2012-2013,that the west abandoned, plus making the YPG the counter-terrorism force was a huge mistake, the US could have trained an Counter-Terrorism Force composed of the FSA in 2013-14

the CIA program in 2013 was only against Assad, the FSA refused to fight ISIS,because Obama didn't guarantee that Assad will stop attacking the FSA,and there are many evidence that Assad was supporting ISIS,especially in Aleppo Reef with airstrikes

No. McGurk went to Turkey to beg them to do just that, and Turkey refused. In early 2013 FSA and ISIS were allies.

here comes Allan with his false assumptions ,McGurk did that later,Obama didn't want to stop the regime onslaught on the opposition,so that it can focus on ISIS,any solution to ISIS has to deal with the cause, which is Assad
