Why this keeps getting repeated over and over again? Now this time by @Elizrael for @ForeignPolicy The Raqqa deal was not secret at all I wrote about it in Oct 16 2017! https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/last-exit-raqqa-local-tribes-play-key-role-evacuating-civilians … BBC came with hit 'secret of Raqqa' piece on Nov 14, 2017pic.twitter.com/tXSruuBYBX

The SDF claims only dozens of ISIS fighters left & no foreign fighters left. SDF also doesn't acknowledge massive haul of weapons taken out as part of the deal.

This is a case of damned if you do, damned if you dont. The whole idea is to find something sinister in trying to limit civilian casualties. Even though the coalition did whatever they could including negotiating some reporters go after them......
-
....but this time around for the material damage. The alternative would have been leveling the entire city with all civilians and Isis among them. You go in searching for something "bad" and work backwards from there.

Everyone on Twitter who was following that battle knew about evacuation. Besides, same thing happened in Manbij and with other actors who were fighting against ISIS so there was no real need to hide it as it was usual practice when it comes to besieged ISIS.
