I argued starting n 2017 US should quit Syria entirely. BUT if we stay, then we have legal responsibilities. US policy is "stay" but fudge/ignore the intl. legal responsibilities w Rukban. Assad shouldn't block aid, but what 2 expect from war criminal? So we r required 2 step up.

She's clearly mocking the idea of profiling as a policy. She said "IF FEAR IS THE DRIVING FORCE OF POLICIES ... [then] we should be profiling and monitoring...white men" Full video:

I just criticized Ilhan Omar on a clip which I didn’t know was doctored, and which took her words out of context. Here is the full, undoctored clip, which I recommend everyone who made the same mistake to see. I deleted my earlier tweet. Apologies.

“Look at where they’re hiding. It’s deserts. It’s caves. It’s places no one can ever fully control." With the ISIS caliphate in tatters, Iraq's militants are digging in across inhospitable terrain. But they're a shadow of their former selves.

Pulling US troops out of Saudi Arabia after the Iraq invasion was a condition of Saudi support. 16 years later they’re invited back, because of the Iran tensions

An unfortunate statement — let’s hope a clarification, or better yet, action, will follow. (The remark signals a callous US approach AND, contrary to what the good JJ keeps saying, that the US is leaving.)

This can’t be understated. If anything, it just shows that the reasons for the move are too compelling to make such a hard decision

The reasons why the US troops had had to withdraw 15 years ago make it clear how desperate this move is. It must be driven by more than just one fear. Although most of the loudest critics of the 1992-2003 troops presence are now either in jail, in exile or dead.

That’s more than 15 years after the US had to withdraw its troops from Saudi Arabia, and relocate to Qatar, under popular/clerical pressure in the kingdom. Interesting this statement is announced so officially.
