but what's also interesting is why, until now, the KDP hasn't openly blamed the PKK and why Turkey is uncharacteristically quiet about this. For all the clashes, it seems no one wants to upset the uneasy status quo.

so to me the attack shows the PKK is much better organized throughout Kurdistan and that it's level of intelligence gathering is more sophisticated. That the PKK now claims it was just some guys who did it shows the group doesn't want to openly clash with KDP on this...

was not run by the PKK. I initially was skeptical that it was the PKK precisely because I didn't think the PKK could operate with such freedom in Erbil & didn't think it would risk an outright clash with the KDP by taking such action...

it's hard to believe that such a professionally organized attack (even if B. Erdal claims it was actually quite amatuer!) that targets a high level Turkish official, in the center of a city where the Barzanis have serious (altho clearly not as tight as I thought) intelligence...

such as TAK, or unaffiliated sympathizers, as is being claimed in this case. But really...the PKK never has and never will tolerate split offs that are active, and while there's no question that sympathizers sometimes do things on their own, without explicit instructions...

The PKK always has a neat answer for attacks it doesn't want to claim for various reasons -- for example, attacks in which civilians are killed or those that are potential PR disasters for other reasons; in these cases, PKK blames either alleged split off groups...

So let's say it, if there's one person Turkey doesn't want to see on PKK TV it's Bahoz Erdal, whose death has been announced by Turkey many times. And here he is, discussing the assassination in Erbil last week of a Turkish diplomat (alleged MIT agent)

interesting. these arrests are rarely publicized. PKK arrests several of their own members over alleged espionage

It’s a great deal — so great that it sounds like what Iraqi Kurds got in the 1990s, and we all know what that led to. Legitimization of Kurdish control

Any attacks being reported in Turkish media these days? (Clearly not with these numbers, but PKK attacks as such)

Once again — seems everyone’s in agreement about a ‘buffer zone’ except they haven’t agreed where it will be, what forces will be there, how big it will be and what really it means. In other words, no agreement

Reported explosion in Ceylanpinar (across Syrian-Turkish border from Serekaniye) was a mine explosion and not linked to any YPG/SDF activity. No Turkish attack yet on Serekaniye per sources on the ground, in contrary to some reports.
