At least 300 Syrian refugees including children were forcibly deported from in the past two days. The Turkish authorities violate the international laws by forcing these civilians to return to a war zone and put their lives in risk. Stop deportation.

Turkey closes last of 6 border posts & pushes back massive numbers of Syrian refugees (2015), starts killing & injuring large numbers trying to cross (2016), stops registering those who cross (2017) & now apparently starts mass deportations from Istanbul

Once it’s clear most Jews refuse to make Aliyah or become GOP-voting black hats, and in fact most Jews will continue to reside (quite loudly) on the US or European left or center-left, many members of the Trumpian or European Right base will probably take a darker turn...4/x

  11. This racism is evident in people of all political backgrounds, in AKP or CHP. The worst part is that otherwise right-thinking Turkish people do so little to challenge it. Where were the condemnations of the anti-Syrian pogrom in Istanbul a few weeks ago?

  12. I think of all my Syrian friends in Turkey - brilliant, kind and generous people who went through hell and rebuilt their lives in a new place, through hard work, only to be met by unconscionable, unchallenged racism on every strata of society.

  13. In Istanbul, police are rounding up, jailing and deporting Syrians , including kids, back to a war zone, all for not having a residency permit (which Turkey been refusing Syrians for a while). No one better dare try and justify this.

Might be worth noting here that the firm Buttigieg used to work for, McKinsey & Co., has made a killing telling Puerto Rico to dismantle state services and screw over working class Puerto Ricans

“ICE raids are taking place in sectors w/ immigrant populations, mainly Dominican communities. This is a reflection of the racist / trumpist policy on the US border. In times of chaos we have to also seed that in the PR we need, no human being is illegal.”

Today I was verbally assaulted in the grocery store by a white man who told me I was a lazy SOB and to go back to where I came from bc I had to many items in the express lane. My husband wasn’t there to defend me because he is on Active Duty serving the country I came from USA!
