Given the magnitude at which this fucks people over, i think there's at the very least a really good case to be made for informing them exactly why they must be fucked over, so a public conversation can be had. And if they can't be told, they can be told why they can't.

I agree. There will be contractual limits to what can be said, but a general answer in more depth than previous would be very much appreciated. From an attendee POV, this just looks like incompetence (and from time "behind the curtain", I'm fairly sure there are external factors)

For a decade+ this discussion comes up. Please excuse that they react annoyed to answer the same questions every single year. As hard as it sounds: if you don't like the rules, don't attend. There isn't a single case where the name led to any repercussions in all those years

With all due respect, "if you don't like the rules, don't attend" is not, in my opinion, a very welcoming thing to say. Especially not from someone in your position. Kind of just comes across as a big "F you", reminding me there's plenty other cons more willing to take my money.

And I say this as someone who's had no real involvement in this debate, I'm personally indifferent to the policy and just saw your message in passing. I will say though, even though it doesn't affect me I definitely support and understand those who do take issue with it.

Your personal opinion toward any other convention than NFC is well known. However, I'd prefer if you don't try to read into it what isn't there. EF respects such issues and often worked around them for trans & co when asked and but not when bitched about in public.

Excuse me? I've attended several other events, including Furnal Equinox, Canada's largest con, Scotiacon and some others. Sure I'm biased towards NFC, which I've had a great time at every year I've attended (plus it being my home con), but it's not the only con I'd advocate for.

To further add to this. Furnal Equinox is the cheapest convention I've ever attended, costing me a mere €23/night at their main hotel. A full super sponsor package also is less than €100. Oh, did I mention I'm badge #1 for it this year?

Then we have Scotiacon, probably holding the record for most friends meet and hung out with at a single convention. I met my fursuit maker there, some overseas friends and overall it was great. Quite a nice and relaxed con too and literally neighboring a HUGE mall.

NFC? Well, perhaps my opinions on that are well known but, again, it is my home convention so of course I'm gonna be biased. Despite that though, it is a really darn well managed and innovative of a con. Their staff is wonderful and extremely great with what they do, too.

So in your view making unsubstantiated false claims about someone is perfectly fine, but that person refuting them is evil?

Hey, throwing a ":3" at the end doesn't make this read any less petulant.
