This phenomenon is unfolding in real time, and anybody following the day-to-day developments would know exactly why. But years from now, god forbid, experts will emerge to write about the ideology of an extremist group, and everyone will be nodding their heads in astonishment.

What should be done with the tens of thousands of IDPs, and ISIS supporters in the camp? Western countries won’t take back their citizens quickly and what about the others? Maybe western countries should invest in more camps to split them up? Or what else?
-
It’s simple. For one, have a process to release women+children not related to Isis, rather than holding everyone like cattle just to avoid the possibility *some* cause troubles. The regime didn’t hold fleeing civilians in camps, allowed them to live in its areas (unless wanted).
-
Recently they tried to introduce a “process”, for local civilians to present IDs & get notables to vouch for them etc for a “speedy release”. Then they stood confused about what to do next when some followed the procedures. Incompetent/careless. Shame coz they were doing well.

Incompetent? Oh, so they rid Syria of ISIS, still fighting cause they're are not gone & with limited resources, not a state, title should be international community should step up, not this. Come on.

Developed countries, allies with resources could have planned much more and should aid much more but could you explain how SDF can do anything different? They are under enormous pressure with little help and few options. Whenever they can they transfer or repatriate prisoners.
-
I think they should execute all Isis members but could you imagine the reaction? You should say what you think the SDF should do. Wealthy countries and global super powers can do much much more.

I agree with you many times, you are objective, and fair. I have read about your personal griviences in this matter. But in this case I think you are unfair. SDF have extremely limited resources. In fact they are the only non-state actor in Syria with large-scale prisons.

They weren't incompetent when they were tasked with defeating ISIS. The ISIS refugees present a big challenge for the SDF, but imagine where Syria would be had ISIS not been defeated. They will overcome this.

I don't honestly think you can blame local forces for this ,they wouldn't have he experience to keep camps like this.this should have been overseen more by the in and other international agencies

Mess up? We’re past that. Children are literally dying while governments of democratic nations hem and haw over what to do with them. If they wait too long, we’ll have a pile of dead kids and one huge jailbreak.
