>Be smarter than your peers throughout your childhood to first 2 years of highschool
>never needed to work hard to understand shit, got used to understanding shit at the exact moment its explained to you
>all of a sudden now you need to start studying most hours of the day to keep up with people who used to be dumber than you, some are also still dumber than you in other subjects and classes

I have now graduated and I'm very scared of college, I'm thinking about doing some easy meme degree but I'm also afraid of disappointing my parents and throwing my life away( and my talent if I have any)
what the fuck caused this decline? was it mouthbreathing? going through a fat phase for like 2 years? how do I learn the discipline to sit down and study for literally hours when my brain is practically hardwired to just give up on shit if it doesnt get it from the 1st time?

>> No.10808488

Thia thread is not related to science or math, you dumb high schooler.

Forgot to add: I've also tried developing discipline in other areas and applying it to academic life afterwards, I do cold showers and fasting and I've tried nofap all to no avail

Do I have to specifically write out math in the post for you to understand that I'm talking about it?

Bruh,
(A) Go to >>>/edu/ at [hot wheels].net/edu/
(B) Answer my question about plants: >>https://warosu.org/sci/thread/10790785
(C) GTFO

Also study/do homework 3 hours a day every week day and you will get all As in community college like me :^)

Try harder, life is just like that. You have to enjoy the process of working at getting good otherwise you are never going to make it.
Everyone hits the wall, some later than others.

Your question about plants is a joke right? What are you doing on /sci/?

>> No.10808521

I got lucky in a way. I dropped out of school and crawled my way to distinction for all my A-level subjects without any teachers, just motivated by fear and bitterness. I learned to study on my own through that, when before I also didn’t like to sit down and apply myself.

Sunlight isn't just visible light you know? You are projecting your notions about light onto plants.

You are fucked if you dont learn to study.

I dont know. Tell me when you figure it out.

Nutritive fungi can grow without light. Plants can use some of the non-vis spectra, but not nearly enough to keep it alive.

>>10808536
I was kind of coming to that conclusion after reading some pages.

http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/Biology/ligabs.html
>[plants mostly use the visible spectrum for energy]
>Photosynthesis depends upon the absorption of light by pigments in the leaves of plants. The most important of these [pigments] is chlorophyll-a, but there are several accessory pigments that also contribute.
Maybe no plants can grow with out light for chlorophyll-a.

>[Sunlight is mainly visible light]
That's why plants evolved to get energy from mainly visible light.

No, I'm studying botany and I am in the wrong for expecting this to be common knoledge, my appologies.
There is a reason why plants are grean, they absorb typically red and blue visible light for energy.
I'm imagining your question is really just about the light, and when you say dirt you mean to say all necessary nutrients aswell.
Plants also need to breath.

You developed early and plateau'd around average intelligence. The others caught up and surpassed you. There is no coming back from this, only waiting for death. I am 25 and a NEET loser because of this.

Yes that is what I mean by "dirt". Also I forgot to say the plant is surrounded by earth quality air.

So to rehearse my question "Can plants grow with only dirt, water, and nonvisible light?":

"Can plants grow with only dirt (with a level of nutritiousness that can sustain plants), water, nonvisible light, and Earth's air?"

I think your answer is "No, no plant can live like that without dying prematurely."

>> No.10808631

>>10808620
Yes that is my answer to the best of my knowledge. But dont take my word on it, try it out?

Also just to be a nitpicky asshole 'Dirt is what i sweep out of my house, plants dont grow in that, plants grow in soil.'

Many end up in your situation. The reason is really simple: the first few years you relied on memory and only a little logic and thinking. At university that changed from learning to studying where you now have to think and reason about things.

And that is what you have to do, study, think, consider, reason everything you see. You are also meant to question what you read, and go to the sources if needed. And that will be needed.

To continue you need to feel some resistance.

Also check if you have Aspergers.

I don't think that's OP's problem at all, if anything it's the inverse. If you are smart as a kid you don't need to study because you can just figure everything out on the fly. But then you hit levels of complexity where it's no longer possible to derive the answer to the question from first principles quickly with a given amount of intelligence, so you start failing. Others have already gotten used to deliberate studying, while you're a lazy fuck who's used to not having to do anything to succeed.

/sci/ is so great. Thanks mods.

I don't have autism, and I'm in the same boat. ADHD, Major Depression, Anxiety... Screwed over college. Years of therapy and I'm going back at it. The people in college who succeed aren't necessarily smart, they just study. High school was easy, and after the generals, college throws things at you that you HAVE to study for.

better now than later, zoomer. i coasted through gradeschool with literally zero studying, relying on my ability to rationalize/logic in conjunction with the piss easy test format of my small town region (equation sheet for literally every math-related course, including math itself kek)

i barely scraped through grade 12 (but i did) and then went to uni. i did general studies so my first year was also piss easy. then i transferred to engineering and got my shit pushed in because i literally did not know how to study nor did i have the focus to actually study. it wasn't discipline related at all either, i had been in multiple martial arts growing up and could very easily remain disciplined WHILE BEING TAUGHT, but self-teaching was brand new to me

so i got on adderall kek

You learn hard work by just forcing yourself to do it. 5 min pauses every 30-45 min of work help as well
