I don't know enough about the Altay MBT to offer a firm opinion, but Turkish aviation, to include helos and drones, artillery, and small arms has grown in leaps and bounds. This is absolutely a market to watch. And not one to ignore from a capabilities standpoint.
You may think "whatever it's a tank" but there are few nation's that build their own (serious) tanks. The vast majority buy from established producers. Being able to build your own, capable, main battle tank is a serious mile stone. The world has underestimated Turkish arms
production since the time of the Ottomans. Turkey has a serious understanding of what makes a good a weapon. They often misuse their military and they could train a lot better, but their arms are continually top notch. There's a reason that Turkish hand guns are becoming a go to
budget competition gun in US pistol competitions. They're damn good guns and super cheap.
I'm still skeptical about Altay as it's heavily inspired from Leopard 2 tank and not fully homegrown. They can be good in other areas like you mentioned but tanks are a large scale complexity of design, metallurgy, smart systems and fire power...
It‘s inspired by the K2. Shoulda get your facts right. On the other hand, it‘s totaly normal that their will be influences of other tanks. You can‘t expect them to get influenced by tractors, when they build tanks.

I truly believed the Americans supply the blueprints to there ally countries however good or bad they may be . It’s all a game of control and conquer.
