It’s frustrating because censored books would abide by their rules, so I feel the rule is now unfairly applied. But I want to make this work, so I’m gonna try putting up my sketchbooks up for online sale for everyone starting tomorrow!

I’m sorry I can’t sell the books to you in person, but this gives me the opportunity to sell them online for everyone, including those of you not at AX. I’ll still be at my booth and selling everything else, and I’ll post a link when the store is up. Thank you for understanding!

A small thing: The AA staff who let me know was INCREDIBLY apologetic and beyond kind about the whole thing, and really tried to help out. I wouldn't blame the staff working the show. I can only assume this decision comes down from management.

Oh, and let's please not point fingers at Fakku or other adult retailers!! This started because someone said "if I can't, then she shouldn't," but the last thing I want is for all adult content getting banned
I'm fine with my consequences, I don't want it affecting others.

What? That’s crazy, even if the nudity is not on the cover? UDON publishes many books with nudity. I wonder if they would try to stop us from selling them at AX. One of them we actually just premiered there...pic.twitter.com/6Us4Py9VNY

Yeah, they had me start asking for ID so I did and turned away a few people who weren’t 18. Their concern is that the material would fall into the wrong hands, but that could happen absolutely anywhere :/

Did someone snitch or something? Would someone really buy a sketch book, look at it while on the show floor, and then run to the nearest AX staff and snitch? The fuck?
-
Someone did! But to be fair, it IS in the rules, so I’m not upset about that - but I’m definitely not happy that I offered to make it right and still got told no.
-
Just a bum deal. I haven't been to AX in three years, but I remember people selling Tenga eggs and porn. Not fair at all.
-
Someone was literally walking around today with a topless hentai babe in a skateboard deck. So I don't see the problem with your book.
-
Just saw today. There's a dude walking around with a full body ahegaho face variant outfit. Full nudity Top and bottoms, shirt and shorts. They let him in the building wearing it. But that's fine I guess.

I don't understand why they won't let you sell your sketchbook. Doesn't anime expo have an 18+ section?
-
For big vendors, but not for artists
-
Hmmm, that's strange. Do you know if there's any reason why?
-
From what I’ve heard, they’re afraid of minors wondering in and seeing the 18+ stuff. If a minor was able to buy something from those artists, the convention can get in serious trouble with the law.
-
That makes sense, still a bummer that there isn't a way for artist to sell in the same area as the vendors in 18+ sections.
-
Agree. If big r18 booths can get a designated section with security at the gate, why not a r18 artist alley with with the same set up?
