    I usually respect the autonomy of the chicken community. I also recognise conflict as a normal part of life for the chicken society. But today, I had to intervene to protect one of the new hens who was facing what only can be described as sexual violence.

    I had 9 cocks & 4 hens. I brought 3 more hens. The arrival of the new girls disrupted peace & harmony of the community. Now they are didived into 2 camps that refuse to hang out with each other. They have even separated bedrooms. The tensions have been growing in last few days.

    This is a developing and popular story in Turkish press. Finally it is picked up by non-Turkish press Anytime I see his pictures and the stories associated, I go into existential crisis mode.

    Yesterday, highlighted this thread about Mehmet Aydin, a Turkish citizen who ran a ponzi style scheme that ripped of thousands of Turkish people for millions of dollars. We decided to see if we could geolocate him.

    Hamay Hama Said was a Komalla member (a far left Kurdish revolutionary group). The group’s leftist tendencies were put in check after Nawshirwan Mustafa assumed its leadership & merged with Talabani’s PUK. But its members continue to hold key positions in PUK Still, funny meme

    This meme is making rounds on Kurdish social media It was funny and I laughed but it doesn’t capture the whole picture. Hamay Hama Said, the nominee for Minister of Culture, has a military background but he’s an extremist leftist which is the only requirement to get that job

    Has ANYONE seen ANYTHING in ANY Western outlet about the strong racist, populist & xenophobic tendencies of the Turkish opposition? Why insist on covering Turkisb politics as a struggle b/w cute secular opposition vs Islamist Sultan while facts on ground tell a differnt story?
