I am also inclined to think that it's contradictory but there is a slight difference between questions. Rationale might be, "we are clearing out 'terrorism'/reconquering 'our lands' hence Syrians are collateral damage" vs "but citizenship is for 'Turks' and they are not Turks"?

It might be suprising for you since Western observers consider MHP as ultra racist party rather than conservative nationalist party. MHP is the party of people that put religious identity first over national identity. This is what I have been observed. They aren't racist at all.

In IYI, MHP divide, IYI is supported by people that think national identity is more important than religous identity. These assumptions are based on what I have observed so far.
