私が今から話すことが真実なら、私たちが大切に思うほとんどすべてのもの、
If what I am about to tell you is true, almost everything we most treasure

自由、美、理性、家族、経済的繁栄、そして善性までもが、危機に晒されている。
- freedom, beauty, reason, the family, economic well-bing, and even goodness –is in jeopardy.

脅威をもたらしているのは誰、または何なのか。
Who or what poces this threat?

その答えは、過去100年間で最も力強い主義、左翼主義だ。
The answer is the most powerful ideology of the last hundred years: leftism.

リベラル主義ではなく、左翼主義。進歩主義と言い換えてもいい。
Not liberalism; leftism –or, if you prefer, “progressivism.”

左翼は触わるものすべてをダメにする。
Leftism destroys everything it touches.

いくつか例をあげよう。
Here are a just a few examples:

1.大学
The universities

これは、おそらく最も明白な例であり、多くのリベラルも認めるところだろう。
Perhaps the most obvious example –one that many liberals acknowledge

左翼は、学びの場としての大学のほとんどをほぼ破壊してしまった。
-is the left's near destruction of most universities as places of learning.

2.芸術
The arts

Throughout history, the primary purpose of art was to elevate people
-through beauty, artistc excellence, and emotional depth.

左翼にとって、芸術、彫刻、音楽の主な目的は、ショックを与えることだ。
To the left, the primary purpose of art, sculpture, and music is to shock.

このため、多くの現代美術には意味がなく、
That's why so much contemporary art is meaningless,

スカトロ要素、つまり尿と糞便が用いられる。
and involves the scatological, meaning urine and feces.

Yes, urine and feces.

Which visitors were invited to use.

The name of the exhibit was “America”

文字通り、アメリカの上に用を足すことができたのだ。
-so one could literally relieve oneself on America.

3.文学
Literature

ペンシルベニア大学の英文学部は、

史上最も優れた英文学作家であるウィリアム・シェイクスピアの肖像画を、
Replaced the portrait of the greatest English-language writer who ever lived, William Shakespeare,

レズビアンの黒人詩人の肖像画と取り換えた。
With a picture of a black lesbian poet.

なぜ？彼がヨーロッパの白人だからという理由でだ。
Why? Because he was a white European male.

左翼の教授たちは、卓越した文学性ではなく、多様性を追求するようになった。
Leftist professors have replaced the pursuit of excellence with the pursuit of diversity.

4.TVの深夜番組
Late-night television

以前は、米国のTVの深夜番組に政治性は皆無だった。
In America, late-night television shows were completely apolitical.

司会者は、視聴者を楽しませ、忙しい1日の後に安らぎと笑いを提供することが務めだと信じていた。
The hosts believed their role was to entertain viewers and offer them relief and laughter
after a difficult day.

しかし、それは過去のこと。娯楽を求めるなら深夜番組を見てはいけない。
No longer. You cannot watch late-night television if you just want to be entertained.

レイト・ナイト・ショーはレフト・ナイト・ショーになった。
Late-night TV is now left-night TV.

5.宗教
Religion

左翼は、主流派のプロテスタントとカトリック、および非正統派ユダヤ教の大多数を破壊した。
The left has ruined much of mainstream Protestantism and Catholicism,
and non-Orthodox Judaism,

これらは、現在では宗教的なシンボルを掲げた左翼組織と言ってもよいほどだ。
Which are now little more than left-wing organizations with relisious symbols.

In many churches and syagogues, one is more likely to hear the clergy talk about political
issues than about any other subject,

6.言論の自由
Free Speech

If there was anything virtually every American considered a bedrock value, it was freedom of speech.

Yet, the left is destroying even this unique American achievement.

And “hate speech”now means “any position the left differs with”.

7. 人種
Race

米国は、世界の歴史上、最も人種主義的でない多民族社会となった。
America has become the least racist multi-racial society in world history.

あらゆる人種および民族的背景を持つ米国人が、至って仲良く日々の暮らしを送る。
On a daily basis, Americans of every race and ethnicity get along superbly.

しかし、左翼は日常的に、「制度的人種差別」、「自覚なき差別」、
「白人の特権」などの怒りに満ちた罵倒の言葉で、若者の心に毒を盛っている。
But the left constantly poisons young minds with angry diatribes about “systemic racism”,
“micro aggressions”, and “white privilege”.

8.ボーイ・スカウト
The Boy Scouts

左翼はボーイ・スカウトを破壊している。
The left is destroying the Boy Scouts.

ボーイ・スカウトはなくなり、単にスカウトと呼ばれるようになった。
They're not even the Boy Scouts anymore; they're just the Scouts.

左翼が少女を受け入れるように強制したのだ。
The left forced them to admit girls.

これが左翼の特徴である。彼らは破壊するだけだ。
Here's the thing about the left: it only destroys.

構築はしない。
It doesn't build.

ボーイ・スカウトは、何千万人もの少年を、独立心のある強くて善良な男性に育てた。
The Boy Scouts have helped shape tens of millions of boys into independt, strong, good men.

では、左翼版のボーイ・スカウトは何なのか。
So where is the left-wing version of the Boy Scouts?

存在しない。何もないのだ。
It doesn't exist. Tere is none.

9.男性/女性
Male-female

ある意味で最も恐ろしいのは、左翼が男女の明確な区別をなくそうとしていることだ。
In some ways scariest of all, the left is committed to ending male and female as distinct categories.

子供たちはますます、自分が男子とも女子とも考えないように育てられている。
Children are increasingly raised not to think of themselves as a boy or a girl.

教師たちは、生徒を「男子」または「女子」ではなく、単に「生徒」と呼ぶように求められている。
Teachers are told not to refer to their students as “boys”or “girls”, just “students”.

ニューヨーク市では、保護者は新生児の出生証明書の「男/女」欄にチェックマークを入れる必要はなくなった。
In New York City, parents do not have to check off male or female on their newborn's birth certificate.

「X」にマークを入れればいいのだ。
They can check off “x”.

このように性別の混乱を強制することは、混乱した人々と混乱した社会を生み出すだけだ。
All this imposed gender confusion can only end up producing confused people and a confused society.

左翼はなぜこうした破壊活動に勤しむのか。
So why does the left engage in so much destruction?

それは、アメリカは基本的に悪い国だと彼らが考えているからだ。
Because it thinks America is essentially a bad country.

アメリカより良い場所はユートピアだけだ。
But America is only bad compared to Utopia.

そして左翼はユートピアの住人なのだ。
And the left is utopian.
