#ISIS supporters unsurprisingly tried to exploit the targeting to argue that AQ is infiltrated & that HD leadership is somehow complicit in the deaths of the hardliners in its ranks. They accused AQ “spies” of planting surveillance chips on the targeted members
Meanwhile, hardline AQ supporters who had sided with HD dissidents against HD leadership took the opportunity to reiterate their attack on HTS: they argue that US jets flew from Turkey; HTS is on good-ish terms with Turkey, therefore HTS is complicit in the men’s deaths
This is part of an ongoing argument by AQ hardliners that Turkey is being/will be used to eliminate jihadists in N. Syria & will use “moderate” groups to achieve that purpose
But many jihadists are calling for restraint (re recriminations & suspicions) & warn that there’s a plot underway to get jihadists to turn against each other
