Heartbreaking. After one of the defendants laughed at Zeliha Bilgin, whose daughter was killed at , Bilgin broke down: “S/he laughing is telling me ‘you can wear yourself out all you want, the state will protect me’.”

When it comes to Iranian presence in Syria, most focus on how Tehran is building influence or infrastructure in regime strongholds in the south or north. Actually, Iran is growing deepest roots in areas where the regime has weak presence; Deir Ezzor is a perfect example of that.

Locals from the “regime-held” west of the river haven’t returned to their homes, unlike those on the US-backed SDF side who have or want to. Many from the regime side live in SDF areas.

The Syrian regime isn’t in control of Deir Ezzor — west of the river & other parts east of it. Pro-Iran Shiite militias are, and they’re apparently building husseiniyat in a province nearly 100% of it inhabited by Sunni Arabs

Last article from 2015 where Esenyurt is mentioned again! Moreover, the ring seems to be working for Israeli "customers" just like what is mentioned in other articles. It seems like the ring was steadily growing while police could only fetch a few ops.

In the same month, another ring was revealed (again) in Esenyurt. They were claimed to find organs from "foreigners" but I believe they were mostly refugees. (I could not identify the passport here, does it look like Syrian?)

This is interesting. Definitely not the first time since there has been other operations in Esenyurt before for illegal organ transplantation - maybe not necessarily from refugees. In this example the donor is from Jordan.

For years there have been rumours of refugees in Turkey being exploited for illegal organ trade. Some reports confirming cases in Lebanon were published. I think this is a first for Turkey.

Police in Istanbul stopped an illegal organ transplant at a private hospital. Investigation revealed 32 year old Syrian refugee had agreed to sell a kidney to 50 year old Israeli national for 10K USD. Doctor was charging 35K USD for the operation.

Quite a thread. The various facilities (an Olympic swimming pool, a 2,500 capacity amphitheatre, shops & toilets at Kuzey Park) constructed in Ankara under The Gökçek era having fallen into disrepair, never having been used (!) or only used once.

Following harassment by the police check point in front of the Diyadin municipality (Ağrı) building towards driver Mehmet Hayri Oruç, the two co-mayors Evren Demir & Betül Yaşar got involved and were eventually reverse handcuffed & beaten. Demir received treatment at hospital.

More interestingly for me is this news from Kayseri: An Iraqi national supposedly from Tel Afar detained during anti-ISIS operations on May 20 has been acquitted of ISIS-related charges due to lack of evidence.
