We do assess that Hay’at Tahrir al Sham (HTS) remains an Al Qaeda affiliate despite its claimed separation from AQ and despite disagreements among senior Al Qaeda members about how to proceed in Syria. Much more on that to follow

Unfollowed due to using bizarre incorrect and propagandistic terms
-
Was it HTS = Al Qaeda that bothered you?
-
Yes. The article is great otherwise.
-
Thanks! I do realize we didn’t unpack that assessment here. We’ll be publishing much more in coming weeks about why we assess Joulani and his organization are still part of the Al Qaeda network
-
You and ISW have been doing this awhile now. HTS is AQ but YPG/SDF is just Kurds.https://twitter.com/WyvernReports/status/1076880461132169218 …
-
We’ve fixed this imprecise legend in more recent publications
-
Conveniently after the first ones had their intended effects
-
For consistency, label SDF/YPG areas “PKK permissive.”

"Al Qaeda" or whatever faction they have in Syria are not a part of this op room and never will be lol. You got to stop persisting with the BS jenny.

al Qaeda led? You sound more and more like a regime/Russian mouthpiece. HTS are not the same organization as AQ. This is a fact, an inconvenient fact, for many analysts and reporters.

HTS is a group of hundreds of factions including Jabhat Fateh al-sham aka Jabhat al-Nusra, so even if
@TheStudyofWar still believe that al-Nusra is still part of AQ they can’t say HTS is AQ!!!!!!!! -
Ink-drop test: 1 drop of AQ makes HTS all AQ. 1 drop of PKK makes SDF...wait, explain this again

Come on, Jenny. Otherwise excellent report ruined by MintPress-like AQ labeling. Not $900/hour quality.

Kinda weird the regime bussed thousands of AQ militants to fight in Iraq and released hundreds from prison at the start of the Revolution but it’s not labeled as “AQ Permissive.”
