    The Assange fans weren't just saying that he didn't do it. They were saying that, even if it had done it, it didn't matter. That his behaviour was both legal, and morally acceptable. They idolised him so much, nothing he did could possibly have been wrong. So it wasn't rape.

    Interfaith has become a PR tool for Arab regimes. Simple as that. Such gestures don’t advance anything other than official image. As religious clerics (both Muslim & non-Muslims) associate themselves with autocrats, that even hurts legitimacy & message. The most basic of facts.

    Good on the UAE for making a public gesture toward religious coexistence. But it's wrong to imply that such gestures are unique—or that the only possible models for the region are either Emirati-style autocracy or ISIS.
