Without a WeChat account, your life is very complicated in China. They have to take care of what they are saying in their conversations in order to avoid a ban Imagine the tech behind this, the IA, the number of operators, the data centers used to censor the WeChat conversations

Factory reset won't do a thing unless he enables full disk encryption with a strong screen lock password. In dystopian Australia it is illegal to encrypt data, so not sure how well that would play out in China.
-
Factory reset will wipe his data and so prevent police to get it. In the latest version of Android full disk encryption is enable by default
-
Nope, the default encryption key is "default_password". If you don't set a strong screen lock PASSWORD, bruteforcing your private key is a piece of cake. Android device encryption is a complete joke because it relies on the screen lock passcode. They should learn from Apple.
-
? Any links to that? Btw this app is able to disable the lockscreen too
-
https://source.android.com/security/encryption/full-disk … Google's implementations have been pissing me off more by the day.
-
Very interesting. You still need to reverse this hash to the 128-bit master key. Is it something doable? Did you try to do it? In the no lockscreen usecase I meanpic.twitter.com/ZvZhAGXOW3

It has been done in the past: https://bits-please.blogspot.com/2016/06/extracting-qualcomms-keymaster-keys.html …
