That last guy in BBC Türkçe interview talking about Syrians being a problem made me think. There is some sentiment. Nobody is able to express the cause of their resentment free from racist comments and false claims. But perhaps this sentiment shouldn't be disregarded.

Disregarding/dismissing these hostile sentiments is more dangerous than addressing them. People are poorly informed about aid Syrians receive, their impact on economy, etc. I don't this lack of knowledge is average person's fault. Calling them racist only polarises them further.
-
For once, couldn't you be the one that is poorly informed about the impact of syrians? I'm living in Istanbul, I see them day in day out. There is a reason even akp people are so hostile towards them...
-
Yes, I am not as informed as perhaps you are on Syrian-host community interactions and tensions in various districts & cities. I meant that I know relatively well the legislation effecting them, its implementation (lack thereof), aid distributions, etc.
-
I think this is not totally unrelated to the lacking the right framework and discourse to explicate the source of tensions. (living in Istanbul and seeing them day in and day out is hardly a credential, it's shared by millions of people-15 to be exact)
-
Yes, so you shouldn't forget the sentiments of 15m people while you have a theoretical discussions about syrians. That's what we call the ivory tower of academia.
-
You may call this racist or believe it is based on false claims, does not change the reality that almost no one is happy with the current situation and the chp candidate should do well to remember that. That's all.
-
No one is calling you racist. You needn't be so aggressive though; both I and Mehmet acknowledged you have points. There is a problem of the framework of how the issues are discussed.

Millions are distressed in some cities , they can never live the way they used to anymore , instead of sharing your fellow citizens burden , calling them ''fascists , racists'' is hypocrisy, very selfish ,liberals are loosing respect lately ,it is a cup out.

The anger should be directed towards Ankara. They were the biggest culprit in support of this Jihadi, Muslim Brotherhood, fake revolution, proxy war, which created this refugee. crisis in the first place.

Ok that is correct. The overall sentiment is there. But there ARE differences. The ones who define themselves as Kemalists, Alevis and Secularists are more likely to be against Syrian refugees.https://twitter.com/Potranze/status/1115964408348467200 …
