Two years since my housemate was gunned down randomly and the right-wing propaganda media invented and stoked vicious, revolting, & politicized conspiracy theories about it.

Not much a fan of Beinart's American Exceptionalism piece, mostly b/c it's slapdash/disingenuous to write about it without assessing late 20th/21st c. emphasis shifts/meaning proliferation. American Innocence narrative historically strong, less so today.

Now I've seen everything. (Though, the case-specific reasoning is pretty easy to parse).

It's slightly depressing to watch FP folks with strong critiques of current policy refuse to offer--alongside those critiques--a view that operates within present policy realities.

I can't stand seeing Democrats misrepresent basic fundamentals of the law or national security. Let Tom Cotton or Lindsey Graham bloviate. Democrats need to embrace reality and exist within it.

There is absolutely a basis for retaliatory action against Iran according to customary international law. The President has all the Article II authority necessary to act. It would be absolutely foolish and unnecessary to do so. All of this can be simultaneously true.

An influential journalist and TV personality feeding mass hysteria on this issue is not a great outcome.

I am a broken record on this topic, but U.S. non-petrol deficit is huge. Replacing that sort of net demand isn't easy. When the deficit fell back a bit in the first part of this year (after expanding in Trump's first two years), global trade contracted ...

All I can say is good luck. There isn't another trading partner out there that imports $2 trillion of manufactures, and runs a deficit in those products of close to $1 trillion ... Mechanics don't work

Warts and all. You're also talking about Zion--a player whose personality, intelligence, charisma, and passion nearly outshine his on-court excellence. If this dude isn't built for NOLA, I don't know who is.

I really like this article on Zion/NOLA, but find the concept of someone not embracing the city--beautiful, culturally rich, unique in the fabric of America--truly incomprehensible.

Not that Ted asked, but I do hope he considers the Ingram + #4 package for Beal. Would like one more asset. Would like NOLA to take back Mahinmi (though would prefer the asset over the cap relief; we're going to suck anyway).

If the Lakers are just giving away Mo Wagner, I mean, a smart team is going to come in and grab him. Maybe they're desperate enough to attach a 2020 second rounder.
