The school of thought that has given birth to Morsi has proved to be the only viable Islamic Sunni line of defence against groups such as ISIS Egyptian prisons, on the other hand, have been number one producers of radicalised Muslim youth who prefer ISIS bravado to MB ‘cowardice’

Ali Kemal Özcan, the academic who met Ocalan today, claims Ocalan actually two days ago gave the note his lawyers that calls HDP to stay neutral in Istanbul election “Ocalan didn’t know that his call wasn’t publicised. I tried to contact his lawyers. But they didn’t pick up”

It’s fine to have an ideological position on Istanbul elections. It is not fine to sell it as Kurdish politics HDP and Demirtas have long become useful idiots and tool for the anti-Erdogan opposition which has nothing to offer to Kurds except a fake sense of solidarity

Demirtas’s taking sides in the Istanbul election was first and formorst an ideological position and had nothing to do with Kurdish interest. In Turkey, Erdogan is still the last best hope for a peaceful solution. And Ocalan gets that. Hopefully rebooting peace process is next.

Mohammed Morsi the man, the MB functionary, the parliamentary leader, the president, the prisoner and the dead are very different Morsis. Morsi is an Egyptian tragedy that is still unfolding. We haven’t yet found a way to tell his story but Shadi’s essay is a good start.

And some, who insist on being stupid because it pays bills, say ‘but the June 30 2013 anti-Morsi protests were too huge’ Alright. What’s the way to resolve street popularity context? Elections. Morsi offered fresh elections! Guess who refused? The June 30 sluts!

I have seen so many stupid comments, which at times are mainstreamed by experts too, which sugges that Morsi wasn’t popular He wasn’t popular to begin with. He won election with a narrow margin. The Egyptian society was divided. But what the hell democracy is for?

Folks. From now on refer to this genius’s feelings on matters related to Middle East not ballots Those who think their halfwit observations or June 30 protests are a better measure than elections should try another drug because whatever they are on is making them stupid

Leaked audio of Pres Morsi in courtroom: “Your honour, I am worried about the reputation of Egyptian judiciary. Forget that I am a president, can the human Mohammed Morsi be trialled in this way? I’m put in a cage. I can’t see anything.”

I started this thread to mourn but it soon turned into something to celebrate I am not a hope merchant but take this from me: we will laugh again and sooner than we think. This story doesn’t end here. This fight still continues. We do what we should & let God do what he will.

The reason why we live in a world where democracy is in decline is that we live in a world where dictators have impunity. The mythical "liberal world order" is crashing because it's a world of hypocrisy, double standards, and thinly-veiled racism.

A journalist gets cut into pieces by a bone saw, a democratically elected president dies in court after 6 years of solitary confinement and then there is Syria & Yemen (the list continues). Decent men & women in Middle East go through painful times. May the pain not be in vain.

Mona, may be it’s time to brag about being a life long critic of Brotherhood as a badge of honour Morsi had mistakes but your camp raped democracy out of ideological fears May be it’s time to admit & apologise. Not that it matters, but it’s more honourable than spinning

I understand & see why many people/groups are silent on Morsi tragedy. But I can’t understand silence of 3 groups: 1- Those Muslim activists/scholars who have an opinion on everything from a fart to fiqh & philosophy 2- Iranian leadership & their proxies 3- ‘Islamism’ experts
