Is the hotel owned by the government? No. Is every elevator in every hotel in Vienna not working? No. Since you've been staying there for three days despite no elevator and when there are hundreds of other hotels in the city, the free market is working just fine in Vienna.

Did the hotel physically prevent you from taking your business elsewhere when you checked in and they told you the elevator wasn't working? No. Did you make the decision to stay there without government coercion? Yes. 100% not socialism, bud. 100% your decision.
-
I mean, thanks for tagging the hotel in the tweet. It's probably not everyday its management gets to laugh at the utter stupidity of one of its patrons, especially one who I'm sure has been an absolute asshole for three days whining about the broken elevator.
-
Of course, since you probably patronize Marriott on a regular basis since you travel a lot, you will probably be comped for this inconvenience, DESPITE you being an asshole. Again, the free market at work.

I don't know about public ownership of private elevators, but you sure own

Because, as we all know, elevators never go down for extended periods of time in the United States.

Our elevators are powered by the invisible hand.

Praise the almighty hand of the market. Amen.

Our elevators are rugged individuals who run on pure frontier spirit.

The perfectly functioning capitalist system ensures perfectly functioning elevators at all times.pic.twitter.com/Kuna0Eb3lT

Until the boom and bust cycle kicks in, then they run either very fast or not at all. But this is a small price to pay for FREEDOM.

Of course, even America has its problem areas. I once heard of an elevator in an apartment building in Berkeley, CA (of course) that went unfixed for 11 seasons...err years.pic.twitter.com/2f9CeAlsbW

Logically speaking this is because it is in Berkeley, which is a socialist stronghold.

The European-style socialism of ... a Marriott hotel?

For God's sake. Log those steps and count yourself one lucky guy,
@FrankLuntz, if this is your grievance today. -
Connie, your husband was very gracious to a throng of obnoxious supporters after Hardball last night in Dayton. I was among them. As usual he was patient and generous with his time. Please pass along my gratitude
-
I should also thank you for your kind words about Sherrod. You described the guy I married.
-
Did you hear the extended applause he received when he was introduced? Chris Matthews was taken aback by it.
