How does AA have results before the count data arrives at the Supreme Electoral Council if it only gets its information from the latter?

A clear-cut example on the limitations of the elected local officials' power in the hypercentralized Turkey. Both Antalya and Izmir are administered by opposition mayors.

A Haber is already complaing about "unfair moderation". And the AKP are promoting a hashtag doing a pun on Yıldırım saying "lightning struck". The debate lasted three hours but it's clearly going to be spun for another three days at least.

I went on a date a few months back when a girl talked non-stop about her ex and how great he was. I had thought that that was a bad date. Turns out there can be worse ones.

Istanbul TV debate: Promises given by Turkish political candidates are always amazing. The moderator didn't ask - or I didn't hear the question - how they would finance these promises.

And the moderator ends by pushing Yıldırım into saying that it was a fair debate, in order to make sure there will be no bad consequences down the road.

Yıldırım promises to reduce commutes in Istanbul - definitely a crowd-pleasing promise if he can realise it.

İmamoğlu says he opened no social facilities serving alcohol in his time as district mayor and that the swimming pools he opened had different hours for men and women, unlike what some were saying.

It was clearly not a debate between equals. Yıldırım interrupted İmamoğlu as he felt fit, while İmamoğlu felt that he had to treat Yıldırım with the utmost respect. But the very fact that there was a debate was a step forward on that score.

I doubt that a great number of voters would have been swayed either way by this debate. İmamoğlu didn't really try to land any blows on Yıldırım, and Yıldırım didn't really succeed in landing any on İmamoğlu.

Yıldırım: "CHP went to the constitutional court and prevented municipalities from giving student bursaries. I don't know how İmamoğlu is going to do that, it's not allowed."
