Farewell to Dr Mohammed Morsi, the first and only democratically elected president of Egypt Shame on those who killed you, those who clapped for the coup. Your revenge will be free, prosperous and democratic Middle East. انا لله و انا اليه راجعون

Are you for real habibi? The entire counter extremism industry is based on the Good Muslim vs Bad Muslim premise Let alone non-Muslims, we Muslims ourselves are the biggest proponents of that binary What you have quoted is the most normal(ised) statement ever.

Wadah Khanfar’s ‘The First Spring’ is the best journalistic/strategic reading into Prophet’s history I have come across It’s refreshing, informative and inspiring. I hope he does a similar series in English.

On a side note, I personally don’t think any healthy man, especially one who doesn’t need British citizenship, will be interested in hers. Oops.

I am sure some miss the 1990s Turkey when the ‘hottest’ news from Turkey was Sibel Can’s divorces

It’s safe to assume whenever Turkey ‘experts’ say’reports emerging’, they just mean they have seen a tweet somewhere on their timeline Yesterday, ‘rumours had it’ Yildirim will release secret dirt on Imamoglu. Some even suggested a sex tape. Turkey ‘experts’ are a funny bunch.

This is why I refuse to see islamophobia just as another form of racism or bigotry e.g antisemitism Islamophobia is career-building, election winning bigotry while other forms of bigotry can take away your reputation and career No1 & 2 contenders for Tory leadership know this

For long, Iranian leadership has been portrayed as a bunch of extremist religious Shiite Ayatollahs who are waiting for the appearance of a messianic figure Well, can someone tell me what and who the Kushner-Pence-Pompeo-Bolton gang are?

Unlike Bolton, Pompeo, Pence and Kushner, Pres Trump doesn’t have an ideological position on Israel He is actually first American president who doesn’t believe in special relationships or sacrificing US money/lives for others But...he likes his name. That’s his weak spot.

The debate will not have much effect on swaying vote to either side The June 23rd elections will be a close call. It is those who didn’t vote in last election who will determine its fate

Given Turkey’s deeply polarised politics, the debate went in a relatively calm situation. Imamoglu’s desire to reach out and not alienate AKParti base and Yildirim’s personal style helped with absence of tension

My overall assessment is it was a mediocre debate. It wasn’t at the expectation level especially that this is first major debate in a decade. No side had a clear win. Imamoglu was better in terms of explaining himself but Yildirim managed to compensate by several brutal comebacks

Imamoglu is a young, well spoken populist while Yildirimis an old and experienced statesman who has taken all positions except presidency. Imamoglu is better at words but Yildirim is good at doing. Will statesmanship beat populism?
