Can't help but wonder to what extent Turkish attention may have come to focus on Qalaat Madiq? It's an NLF priority and, for Ankara, there's a strategic logic in rejecting unilateral changes to the Astana lines. Then again, Russia is likely trying to have a different discussion.

Or put it this way, Turkey wants Astana to be primarily territorial—everything else flowing from that—while Russia wants the conceptual opposite: content-centric, transactional front/crossline arrangements. Then again, neither seems keen on doing much heavy lifting at this point.
