    I dont see any change in US objective in Iraq. I dont see any real political roadmap; other than fighting ISIS nd helping to train Iraqi forces. There is no reason for me to believe this time is different than before. Nd no reason for me to believe it can survive w/o US presence

    No fan of Bolton but I believe him when he says (even under Trump) admin act as one; no confusion btw bodies or departments. I think it is stupid to reach out to Trump personally just to seek a deal. He plays the game some states have been playing. Blame establishment/hardliners

    Similar arguments led Trump admin to argue if it was a good idea to list IRGC. If U claim ur state have some parts tend to act independently; that r out of ur control then obviously they will be sanctioned or be listed. When in reality they r no independent but play their roles

    There r two competing theories out there; one Putin being fully in charge; the other autocratic regimes being more complicated than that nd Putin not being in charge of every lil thing happens in Russia. I thought it was a teamwork. Otherwise what was the point of smart sanctions

    This "Putin is not in charge" hypothesis is getting old. Yes, the Russian regime is not monolithic. But Putin could stop these arrests with one phone call. One. In fact, he wouldn't even have to call personally.
