I bet you can't find more photos of clear pieces of plastic in the shape of CDs (that are not CDs) which act as placeholders or something in packs of CDs.

Try search for it with a search engine, you will find nothing.

My first search was "dummy disk" which felt like an appropriate name. No pictures, but wikipedia popped up where it says

Then I looked for "scratch protection disks" before I just plugged in "clear polycarbonate disks" which gave me 2-3 results. It's definitely funny how few pictures there are of a fairly common item.

I saw two which looked like what I'm looking for but where actually (1) a clear CD that could hold data and (2) a clear plastic disc separator for a ticket roller thing. Maybe that is what you saw.
