Losing Istanbul’s mayoral elections is a huge psychological setback for AK Parti but losing the re-election would be an even greater defeat. I don’t think AK Parti has a strategy. Why one wants to lose by a larger margin is beyond me.https://twitter.com/ragipsoylu/status/1136621987600752640 …

A debate between a soft spoken statesman/beurocrat and an eloquent populist will most likely end up in a PR blunder for AK Parti. AK Parti almost willingly lost Ankara to CHP and seems to do the same in Istanbul
