a small handful of folks completely control my life story by injecting new little details that can't be /dis/proven, like "eevee knew about this", and since it's unfalsifiable nobody wants to go to bat over it, so i just get eternally gaslit by queer indie twitter repeating it

i'm so fucking tired of being falsely accused of being a "notorious pedophile" or whatever. it makes no sense but it's like people's brains shut down when they see the word. i guess a lot of folks are terrified of being branded "pedophilia apologists" too

what kind of toxic, ass-backwards culture have we developed where whoever says the Power Word first automatically wins, and everyone else is too scared to contest it because the Power Word might be used against them next

the folks who bailed on us were among our friends with the biggest audiences, the ones who could've helped during one of the worst times of our lives. but it seems having the biggest reach meant they were the most terrified of being eaten alive by their fans that's fucked up

i can't even imagine how much worse this is for ash, who was actually abused by their dad as a kid and who now gets accused of doing the same. sometimes i catch a glimpse of how much it weighs on them and it's heartbreaking

we're mostly fine, it's been quiet for a while; i'm just Renewed Mad because someone dumped a pile of garbage on a mutual earlier today. though being pre-emptively blocked by a significant number of queer/furry/indie twitter is a regular reminder

that's the goal, after all: "don't support them". build a social wall around us, undermine our social and emotional and financial support, cauterize us so no one has to think about us again. in order to protect, someone, from something

of course, as always, anyone should block anyone they want at any time for any reason. but there's a separate large-scale crowd phenomenon here too and i don't know what to think of that

also we have both /absolutely/ done things we regret, and i'll gladly eat any ire for those. but we've never seriously hurt anyone, or attempted to do so

i bizarrely find myself terrified of people who are very outspokenly mad about pedophiles, because those are the sorts of people who believe that i'm one, and if they say stuff like "pedos deserve no rights and should be shot in the face" then what might they try to do to me?

for the record i'm generally against shooting /anyone/ in the face, a sentiment which i'm sure will be cited as "apologism" in the next fifteen seconds mob "justice" is fuckin scary though

i don't even understand where this has all come from. it's like an immune response to an epidemic that i haven't seen. more like an allergic reaction am i missing something? the entertainment industry has had some rot come out lately, but why are furry/queer circles so jumpy?

i just don't understand how the community with the biggest interest in precise terminology is now out here using the same word for "raped an 8yo" and "implied high schoolers had sex offscreen, in the comic they drew while they were in high school"

maybe two things can both be bad, but different amounts of bad, and that's not the same as saying that one of them is actually good? maybe we don't need to use the worst word in our arsenal for everything we think is sketchy. maybe that trivializes the thing it describes.

btw the best explanation i've heard is that the current US/UK political climate for queer folks is Not Great, and so a lot of us are chomping at the bit for some easy wins — e.g., driving a problematic artist with 9k followers offline — in order to feel in control of /something/
