      would such a law have made it illegal for me to travel to Idlib in 2013? I later wrote about it for newspapers, and some of it went into our book Burning Country, but I don't have any formal press accreditation.

      Foreign fighters inserting themselves into ethnic conflicts they don't understand should certainly be prevented from entering Syria.
