Now this is very interesting. The U.S. has allowed Turkey to supply Syrian rebels with TOW anti-tank missiles left over from the shuttered CIA campaign. For use against the Assad/Russian assault on Idlib and Hama. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-syria-security-idlib/turkey-sends-weapons-to-syrian-rebels-facing-russian-backed-assault-syrian-sources-idUSKCN1SV0FA …pic.twitter.com/WWCNm4n394

TOWs have very likely killed Russian soldiers in Syria:https://www.thedailybeast.com/are-us-missiles-taking-out-high-ranking-russian-military-officials …

Also a way of offering a sop to RTE to stop the rebel attack on SDF.

What could possibly be the U.S. goal here, now that iit's out of the future of Syria game? Turkey OK in NW but not in NE? conflicting & conflicted at every turn ...

Appease Ankara to forestall an attack on SDF east of Euphrates. Also, bleed Iran.

I see, possible compensation/appeasement for Turkey, but unlikely to convince them to drop the S-400 - it's all so screwed up,Turkey was reasonable in 2011-12 but no one would listen, now that they've gone off the deep end there really is no point helping them drive off a cliff

There’s no US policy in Syria without Turkish buy-in. Was always going to entail a deal with Erdogan...

ugh they are all using far better kornets bought straight from Putin by all evidence hardly any TOWs since that's all Saudi stocks which are low though turkey has its own stock

Southern Front commanders used to bitch all the time that French Fagot missiles were much better than TOWs.

The TOW is a weapon from the late 1960s. It will still blow armored vehicles out easily. But it was only designed for communist tanks of the early 1970s like the T55 and T62. Amazing after 50 years of service it is still moderately useful

I love it. Raytheon makes the TOW. They also make the Saudis’ preferred air to ground guided weapons system, the same weapons Trump just authorized for sale. So, Raytheon sells to both sides. The arsenal of democracy; not so much.
