This is merely a photograph of two pages of the The Mitre, a Sacred Poem by Edward Perronet. The Mitre is a satirical poem that attacks the Church of England and satirized traditional worship. The poem was suppressed by John Welsely for some time. This photo contains a handwritten note by Perronet indicating that the Methodist preachers were those whom the Anglican bishops had dismissed.

The following miscellaneous productions were not originally intended for the public view; as they are but the unpremediated effusions of mere private amusement, and only occasionally shewn, by the way of personal respect, to a handful of the friends of the Author; who, having entrusted a copy of these, and many others, to a particular acquaintance, has been at length persuaded to admit to their being made public. This, he is sensible, has the appearance of a stale pretense; however, stale as it...

The following miscellaneous compositions were not originally intended for public view, as not being thought calculated for public use: but the curiosity of some to see the manuscript, of others to have it in print, is the sole motive for doing that, which, though it cost the writer some labour, will to him bring no other advantage than the satisfaction of obliging, at their expense, the few friendly individuals by whose it sees the light. P. S. The little copy of verses added by way of...

The Aleppo Codex was the oldest extant Hebrew Masoretic manuscript of the Old Testament until many pages were lost during a riot in 1947. It is believed by many to be the most authoritative copy of the Hebrew Bible in the masorah tradition. The text was verified and vocalized by Aaron ben Asher, the last and most prominent member of the Masoretic grammarians from Tiberias. This edition contains some old photos of currently missing pages and a recovered fragment.

The Leningrad Codex is the oldest extant Hebrew Masoretic manuscript of the entire Old Testament. The manuscript claims to have been written by Samuel ben Jacob in Cairo in 1008 and based on manuscripts by Aaron ben Moses ben Asher. It has been used as the basis for many printed editions of the Hebrew Bible.

The Second Rabbinic Bible is the Hebrew Masoretic text which is believed to have been used as the source text by the King James Bible translators for the Old Testament. The margins contains copious notes about the text in Hebrew. The four volumes were first published by Daniel Bomberg in Venice. The fourth volume contains the books of...
