    Probably meant the highway M5 rather than the M4 In any case the regime offensive takes place in the front most distant from any highway. At this point it is pure delusion to believe there is some deal about an highway in exchange for Tal-Rifaat.

    It'd been widely accepted that the Russian military had been open to launching this op (at least to the M4) for a while but that stability prevailed as Putin prioritized relationship w/ Turkey due to higher potential strategic upside (w/ Damascus seen as spent asset).

    It is intentional. Since the start of its intervention in September 2015, Russia always prioritized bombing FSA. The FSA in Hama were the very first targeted.
