Absolute Duo (V2) taken from the Source BD Encoded by me with great care.
I timed the subs with care as some episodes were not synced, so that each episode has good synced subs, as suppose to be.

We use CRF 18, a high-quality bitrate setting that is a standard recommendation on Doom9 (the expert encoding forum). Rest assured that this video will look perfectly fine even when watched closely on a large screen. CRF 18 avoids pointlessly bloating bitrate for virtually no gain, so you get a great balance of quality and size.
[Audio quality]
This encode uses FLAC, which is lossless but also very large. For virtually the same quality at a much lower filesize, request for a [Small] encode instead on our discord, which uses lossy AAC encoding to strike a better balance. (The video in both encodes is identical.)
If there are any issues please comment below with good pointers where something goes wrong.
Have fun watching and hope you like this torrent.
Do not forget to comment after you watched and or downloaded it ^^

Thanks, usually, if you go for quality than the best bet is x264 10bit FLAC but a small size with good quality would be x265 10bit AAC. Well, that’s what I learned from more experienced encoders at Kametsu.

I could do this but definitely flac is the best to go and consider the fact what file size I already achieve with x265 10bit flac is then no big deal though.
This could be done but it is a hassle if you want me to add multiple torrents.

It’s up to you mate, either way is fine. It was just a suggestion, but considering your encodes are directly ripped from BluRay and not a re-encode of someone else encodes, the file size should suffice…

I do use the BD files presented to me on private trackers and public trackers so saying that space concerns is a thing and as space is not unlimited this is my caveat to make one release so far I could rip out the flac and convert that though
maskedcape
I just ripped out the audio of episode 1 and English is 230mb and Japanese is 100mb. That’s not too bad, however, aac would definitely reduce the size. The main concern seems to be the video with high bitrate.
maskedcape
If you encode it a bit lower bitrate you can get the same quality and a file size of around 600 to 700mb. But this would make that encode a mini-encode. So just do what you think best, im happy either way. Free anime lol :)

also commenting on what you said this release has also grain preset because there is some grain in this series I could do a no grain preset and see if that makes any difference as I am not encoding at the moment but I highly doubt that it differs
Nep_Blanc (uploader)
I will do a trial encode and see if it makes any change at all
maskedcape
how did you manage to get lower size on your sword art online and spice and wolf 2 encode?.. even overlord seems to be low on size. Can’t you try to use the same settings.
Nep_Blanc (uploader)
as i said if grain is present I will choose grain preset to get the best quality as grain is part of the video it should stay then this also results in a bigger file size as it tries to contain the grain
Nep_Blanc (uploader)
it also may seem low on file size but that is the Magic (Work) the x265 encoder does on medium preset with FR18 as quality is great and file size considerably smaller then x264 I choose for that.

Well this file sizes seem small but this is not bitrate starved at all same preset just compression to the audio files on the second and the first without grain preset
maskedcape
sweet…much better

but first I am encoding attack on titan BD source, as this is an upcoming project and another release is in the remux bin so stuff is rolling ^^
maskedcape
As long as you encode to a reasonable size without sacrificing too much quality in the process, I think it’s gonna be good. Thanks for everything buddy. Anything 600mb to 1gb is ok but 800gb should be reasonable. Depends on the anime though.
Nep_Blanc (uploader)
the 600 meg trial encode is with compressed audio I checked it and it seems alright though still have to recheck fully
maskedcape
Yeah, if you check DB, Bonkai77, Prof and maybe Cleo’s encodes you know what i mean. They have it down to 400mb or even less and yet if you play their encodes with something higher bitrate, you won’t even notice any great quality loss

I think your uploads are great and i do notice a difference between lower bitrate encoders like bonkai and i never take Cleo’s too much
NateUchiha
Im totally fine with AAC but keep the video quality or at least don’t lose much. I think to many x265 encoders are just trying to get the smallest sizes i would rather have quality encodes. Thanks for your encodes
NateUchiha
I meant to say bonkai’s encodes are pretty good but i still perfer higher quality video just my preference.
Nep_Blanc (uploader)
I set it at a reasonable preset and quality preset so it does not compromise the quality too much as this is not good for the general viewership, my dual xeon rig is busy atm so smaller encodes are in the line atm though later

Shouldn’t AAC be more than enough? Frankly I don’t notice any difference between good AAC and FLAC and I own a good pair of headphones. Even people with much better sound gear than me express the same opinion so isn’t using FLAC just unnecessary and impractical? Unless you have really good ears and sound gear in the thousands of dollars thinking FLAC sounds better than AAC is just a placebo effect imo
Nep_Blanc (uploader)
you’ll hear and if you do not think that flac is needed then make AAC from flac and mux it, just saying be happy that it is converted to flac instead of dts because that is a no compression lossless codec.
So saying that it means that it even is larger than flac is, flac reduces on average 50% file size and it is not lossy.

Even though I could make a fast [Small] Encode but that has to be requested on the discord Here! so if you want it to happen be free to request it.

Thank you.
