"SDF officials could not be reached for comment. But if such talks did occur, they would not be a first. [Mazlum] Kobane told Al-Monitor in a March interview that he had met with MIT officials in Syria when peace talks between Ocalan and the Turkish government were still ongoing"

Another important piece of news that went unnoticed yesterday due to Istanbul re-election hype. Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant's cement base was fractured TWICE before any structure was planted atop. Do we need a reminder for the dangers of a weak NPP infrastructure?

Phenomenal to see the mood on Twitter to go from utter despair after decision to scrap vote to burgeoning hope & determination that Imamoglu will win again June 23. Comes after his speech but also on the back of YEARS of unfaltering longing for democracy.

While deciding for a re-run in Istanbul, Supreme Election Board rejected objections for Maltepe & Büyükçekmece elections. Another nice move to shout out their lack of legitimacy decision by decision.

With this last decision of legal action and the challenge I described in my previous tweet, I guess the biggest challenge will be forming ballot box committees before the re-election takes place. I believe AKP+MHP dug their own grave here.

First official statament from Supreme Election Council - it confirms the Istanbul re-election on June 23 and the justification of "irregularities in the formation of ballot box committees". There is also a decision to take legal action for those who have formed the committees.

    1. One should not put words into the mouths of people. No one is talking about a new Gezi 2. Claims about Gezi being a political failure is reductionist and schematic 3. One should consider 21st urban crowd movs after reading Bayat, Chalcraft, Cronin or Armbrust.

I don’t know , I don’t read anything between the lines that hints, suggests, alludes to, an end to Turkey’s (how ever much dead in the water) accession process. Perhaps you’d like to volunteer to be an international observer?

Almost as unbearable as the decision for a re-run of the Istanbul elections, are the abundant about it. Yok vay efendim the “HDP is going to field it’s own candidate” (not even remotely possible), “CHP at risk of losing Kurdish votes”, etc.
