The Big Three
Introduction: Traditionally, there are three major general purpose vendors:
o - Factiva -- U.K. Mainly aimed at business news. Many news sources for business analyses, companies, markets etc. Great in creating custom made end-products for the end-user, good search language and coverage, although the automated process of assigning keywords often fails. Use the Factiva database catalogue to get an impression on the coverage.
o - Lexis-Nexis -- USA. Largest aggregator worldwide. Billions of documents online. Fair search language and fair support. Tends to be a bit fluffy. Good coverage of Dutch newspapers. Comes in many flavours: LN Academic, LN Diligence, etc. Acquired Moreoever in 2014.

o - Proquest Dialog -- US. Aimed at scientific and technical information, also business and some news. Excellent selection of databases, very good search language and meta data design, very good support and documentation.
