My new work about the factions belonging to the National Army Were they formed before ES? Did they receive US support via MoM or Pentagon? Have they fought ISIS, Assad or YPG? Compose they of Arabs, Turkmens & Kurds? For high quality

The military operation started from two axes. One targeting Maaranaz & the other Malikiyah. According to two FSA commanders (one tweeted, one told me via Whatsapp), Maaranaz was entered by the National Army already Location:

I spoke with the spokesman of the Turkish-backed National Army who confirmed that the military operation to liberate Tal Rifaat started! Also Turkish media started broadcoasting about the operation:

Meanwhile, after days of escalation and airstrikes on civilians a new level of escalation is being reached in Idlib in which the regime or allied militias bombarded Turkey's Jabal Shashabo observation point overlooking the Ghab plain:

Very interesting reports emerge that Turkey and the Syrian opposition started a military operation towards Tal Rifaat.

My latest for about the demonstrations in Deir Ezzor against the YPG, the reasons behind them and the ongoing ISIS insurgency in the region. To the end of the article, I argue that Deir Ezzor should become an opposition stronghold again:

First, DeirEzzor in the control of the opposition is certainly not a fuel to the fire which could transform into ISIS 2.0. In radicalizing the people, the YPG and the regime played and play a strong role. Second, regime has good contacts to Raqqa tribes, not DeirEzzor tribes

As the US doesn't want the regime to get control over the oil-rich region, and the political process between the opposition and the regime is going on, to make DeirEzzor again a opposition stronghold could work out for all. And I disagree about your assesments in tow main points

I think the current situation in DeirEzzor is not durable. Either the regime will capture it or ISIS will come back or both. There needs to be a critical change, and I think there are two options: The one you said, and the one I said.

Thanks Ruslan for your kind words & your thoughts. The idea is based on the premise that the US doesn't want the regime to enter the areas and want to prevent ISIS 2.0.

"By doing so, the revolutionary flag would once again wave over the area, preventing the possibility of the Assad regime reaching a deal with the YPG in order to control the oil-rich region. Locals would not feel occupied, which will help ensure the defeat of Daesh."

"Fighters from Deir Ezzor within the National Army like the , Jaysh al Sharqiyyah & could be relocated. By sending convoys similar to the evacuations from Ghouta & Homs to northern Syria, these people & fighters could be sent in convoys to Deir Ezzor."

"One suggestion could be to turn DeirEzzor to a Syrian opposition stronghold backed by US & Turkey. This idea would address the call of the local people to ‘return it to the way it started.’ Displaced peoples who originate from DeirEzzor could be relocated to their hometowns."

"Since the administrative performance of the U.S. partners in Deir Ezzor have proved to be very bad, Daesh terrorists are exploiting the situation to their own advantage. Daesh changed its tactics to guerilla warfare." h/t for the great map!

"On May 1, tribal elders in DeirEzzor gathered together and handed over a 20-point demand list to the YPG-dominated SDF, giving the other side a 72-hour ultimatum. Tribes demanded the release of detained and the cessation of raids, to hand the administration to the local people."
