Samsara, by Guerlain - both my mum and my grandma wore it when I was very young, and so I always associate the smell with memories of the three of us together. We lost my grandma a couple of years ago, and since then I've been wearing Samsara - each time I do, I get this wonderful warm, comforting feeling back - and it makes me smile to think that the women of our family have shared this tiny, invisible tradition through the years! Helps me remember my grandma's hugs too.

Plum Japonais, reminds me of homemade plum pies and custard.

Great one, I really like wearing this one when it’s raining out.

The original Dior Homme - fantastic drydown of warmth. Some notes that make me feel happy - orange, pineapple, coffee / espresso, coconut, maybe some lavender / neroli. A good jasmine or iris.

Dunhill Icon is a good one for being calm w/ the neroli and lavender. MFK Amyris makes me feel happy / clean / put together.

Agree, its a very fresh and uplifting scent, and even as a guy I got a lot of compliments for it.

Tokyo by Paris Hilton was my first perfume and it makes me happy just for that reason.

IMHO, Clinique Happy (both versions, but I prefer the men's) is aptly named.

level 2

I hear this has longevity issues, what is your experience?

level 1

Funny! by Moschino

Replica Jazz Club, Replica At the Barber, VIW, Clinique Happy, Estee Lauder Pleasures ,and Aventus. All of those make me smile and make me feel all warm and sunshiney. Everybody says that Jazz Club is a winter scent, but I am not sure I fully agree. Maybe not super suitable for the middle of a hot humid day, but I like it on a breezy summer evening.

level 2
Original Poster1 point · 2 days ago

Agree with you about jazz club I have it too and I think it works well in the heat. Like you said, maybe not on a scorching hot or humid summer day. Not as dark of a frag everyone thinks it is.

Tom Ford- Jasmine Rogue.

Acqua di gio, it's the cologne by boyfriend wears on special occasions so some of my best memories of him are connected to it!

Coromandel, Bat, Arsenic on top of my head.

level 2

Bat... I like to smell it, but I’m not brave enough to wear it.

level 2

Zoologist fragrances almost always bring a smile to my face.

level 1

I feel like that about Bond No.9 Lafayette St. I got a whiff of it on a sales rep, and dang it smelled good. Got some samples of it, and it reminded me of good times...the carnival's here in Texas for some reason lol

level 1

DKNY Pink Blossom, Kenzo Flower in the Air, L'Imperatrice D&G, CK Eternity Moment, My Burberry

level 1

Resala by Arabian Oud - I wear it and know I smell like a boss. Not so many Westerners wear Arabic perfumes, but rave over Tom Ford who borrows heavily from them, so maybe give them a try if you like his perfumes. Kalemat and its variants (Black, Amber) are also quite distinctive and accessible.

I don’t know how many people remember good ol’ Dot by Marc Jacobs, but it was like Daisy’s less popular, berry and white floral sister. It just has such a cheerful smell to it, and it was my first real perfume. I’m so sad it was discontinued.

level 1

This isn’t a perfume but the smell of the deodorant Old Spice Bearglove makes me melt, it’s the scent that my SO uses :)

Joop! Jump always makes me very happy, first fragrance I ever used, so I love the nostalgia and happy memories. But its also very fresh and uplifting, at the top its a citrusy and almost a little generic, but the drydown is a completely different and wonderful scent. The first couple times I wore the scent, I didn't recognize the dry down, and was wondering who around me smelled so good.

Also received by far the most compliments with this scent, who doesn't love to be told they smell nice, always made my day.

level 1

Eau Des Baux by L'Occitane brings a smile to my face every time I get even a little waft.

level 1

Rag & Bone Oddity. I can’t get enough.

Atelier Colognes - Iris Rebelle

level 1

prada l’homme because my dad used to wear it. i don’t think he wears anything now but it reminds me of hugging him when he came home from work during my childhood

level 2

Wait, I thought Prada L’homme was a fairly recent release. What year was it introduced?

level 3

2016 apparently... maybe there is something that smells just like it? bc i swear that’s it!

level 4

I know Dior Homme Eau smells similar but you could very well be right! Smells can create powerful memories.

There was a fragrance I once bought a few times called Smiley where their whole schtick was that it was supposed to make you more happy "based on olfactory molecules theobromine and phenylethylamine that are known to trigger happiness"

CdG Odeur 53 and Kurkdjian Universalis forte both works really well on my skin type – lasts all day, sometimes the into the next day, which seems unusuall from what I red about other people experiences. I love them both. I wish I could say the same about Cuiron by Helmut Lang. Love the scent, but it dissappears too quickly.

level 1

Gravity by Coty holds sentimental value to me, so whenever I wear that one I always smile.
